A few words about quality. My Roman blinds are hand
sewn so that no machine stitching is shown on the front of the blind, not even
at the top where the Velcro is attached. This makes such a difference to the look of the finished blind and shows that you have invested in quality workmanship (without paying the earth but no-one needs to know that). My blinds are usually interlined,
unless the face fabric is particularly thick, but I will make them without
interlining if required. It isn't cheaper to leave out the interlining as more careful time consuming sewing is required, but is is an option if you have a thick fabric. I don't use
rod pocket tape as it's so unsightly - all rods are held in calculated pleats sewn into the lining.
I think it's important that the blinds look nice from outside as well as inside. The
lower rod, which carries the full weight of the blind, is a thicker weighted pole. This is not strictly necessary for narrow blinds but I find it easier to
do the same for every blind, that way you know what you're getting.
This listing is for a Roman Blind in John Lewis Blossom fabric with optional beaded trim, pom pom trim, or a lower border in Laura Ashley Gingham in duck egg or heath green.
The John Lewis fabric is a linen and cotton mix (linen union), the Laura Ashley gingham fabric is 100% cotton. The optional clear or blue beaded trim adds a lovely finishing
touch. The small cream pom pom trim also looks great with this fabric, as does the Laura Ashley gingham fabric used as a lower border which is visible when the blind is raised as well as when it's lowered. If you have seen another trim that you prefer on one of my other listings just let me know which one and I'll check that it looks good with this fabric.
The blind will be
lined in premium ivory SolarPro cotton sateen, and interlined in lightweight
Domett 160 for a nice slightly padded look.
The blind will be hand made the professional way with no machine stitching showing on
the front. The rod pockets will be made by sewing tucks into the lining so no
ugly tape is visible from outside. The lowest rod is a thicker weighted pole to
prevent sagging, and the bottom bar is aluminium to add weight and help the
blind hang flat. The layers are held together with small stab stitches below
the rod pockets. In the last few photos you can see some of my other blinds already made up, and one ready to take the rods, pole and bar (all with end caps to prevent fabric damage).
THE BLIND CAN BE MADE UP TO 130cm WIDE AND UP TO 120cm LONG FROM THIS LISTING.
If you require a larger blind or a blackout blind (at extra cost) please get in touch and I'll see what I can do.
Please note that the photos show the fabric and trim laid out so that you can get an idea. They are not intended to show how the finished (lined and interlined) blind will look.
The blind is
supplied fully corded onto a matching or co-ordinating fabric covered wooden batten. The batten can
simply be screwed to your wall or to the ceiling of your window recess if you
are hanging it inside the recess. The blind simply attaches to the front of the
batten with Velcro (supplied already attached).
You also have the choice of a
wooden, white, brass or chrome acorn to hold the cords together, and a brass, chrome, white or black
cleat to attach to the wall so you can raise the blind to the desired height
and wind the cords round to secure it.
Please state your preferences when paying.
If the blind
is being fitted inside a recess allow space for the blind to move up and down
freely without touching at the sides, and measure carefully as window recesses
are not always square. The width should be 1cm less than the recess width at the narrowest point. The bottom of the blind (including any trim) should rest on the sill.
If the blind is being fitted outside the recess you need at least 4cm above to mount the batten, plus whatever you require to overlap the wall each side and at the bottom. If your still sticks forward a long way it may be better to have the blind resting on the sill but if you have a bead or pom pom trim along the bottom of the blind this will have to be included in the length and some light will get in between the beads / pom poms.
Please let me know whether your blind will be fitted inside or outside the recess, and if you are having a trim please state whether this is included in the length you have given, or extra on top of that length.
alternative to the wooden batten and cleat you can upgrade to a rotary chain
cassette headrail or a cord lock track. Please see the listings for these under the Headrail Upgrade category in my shop.
If you need
a small fabric sample just leave a message with your name and address and I'll post
one out to you.
£10 for one blind or £15 for two. This includes postal compensation of up to £100 for one blind and up to £250 for two - those are the standard increments offered by Royal Mail although sometimes I will use a courier like UPS or ParcelForce.
Please note that these postage charges don't apply to some outlying areas - Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Channel Islands etc. (you probably know if couriers charge extra to deliver to you). I will investigate the cost in these cases based on the size of the blind and expected weight so please ask for a postage total before paying.
I offer postage discounts for
multiple purchases, please request an invoice before paying.
