I'd have liked to be able to give this a 4.5 star rating, but eBay doesn't seem to support it, and hence the 4-star rating. This is a phone that's for everyone who has ever dropped a phone accidentally and lived to regret it. In one word, this phone is just rugged, and "life-proof", to use a phrase that I came across elsewhere. The build quality is outstanding, and for the price you pay for it, you'll be hard-pressed to find better value. With an 800 MHz processor, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal memory + Micro-SD expansion slot, 3.7-inch 480x854 display (others with similar display size have only 480x800), 5MP shooter, and nearly unbreakable Gorilla glass, it's no pushover when it comes to hardware specifications. Its integrated Swype keyboard (http://swypeinc.com/) is easily the best keyboard on Android. Motoblur may be the only dampener, but personally, I don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be. You don't have to worry about charging it frequently either, with a solid 1540 mAh Li-ion battery ensuring that it'll easily last a full calendar day (moderate to slightly heavy use). The only real question mark is Motorola's commitment to update the Android version on this phone, as it comes only with Eclair (2.1).Read full review
Before you commit to anything bear in mind you can get this phone brand new and unlocked for £214 on Amazon. The phone comes with Motorola's own Android UI which drains battery and CPU and also contains a lot of unnecessary pre-installed apps. Bad. I rooted it and installed Cyanogen. After that performance is much better and I can get 1.5 days out of the battery easily and 2 days on low internet usage. The UI looks much better too. It's not a performance phone. Even with Cyanogen it seems less snappy than my girlfriend's HTC Desire which is an older phone. I tried some 3D game and it was a joke really. On the other hand 2GB internal memory gives a lot of space for applications which is great - remember that not all apps will install on the SD card. The screen is a bit smaller than on a Desire or an iPhone, which I don't have a problem with. If you want a big screen get a tablet. A phone should comfortably fit in a pocket and this one does. I am not sure about the 'toughness'. Apparently BBC Watchdog did a feature on it because of the complaints they had about the screen cracking. Mine didn't yet but that doesn't mean much. I've only had it for a couple of months. I used it a number of times in the rain and it doesn't seem to cause harm, but the touchscreen becomes quite difficult when it's wet. Altogether a nice and cheap entry level Android handset with some extra features. If you are looking for top class performance or display size it's not for you.Read full review
I have had 3 of these phones(through accidental damage) and the first 2 were great couldnt fault anything about it, apart from the fact that on advertisments of the phone its described as 'unbreakable' and as im currently on my 3rd handset in 9 months i think that shows that this is uncerrect. But my newest handset had some faults, for example restarts itself for no reason, freezes if you press the voice commands button and some times gets a little stuck when im trying to swipe through the different home screens. but my 1st 2 handsets were amazing couldnt fault them oon anything
hi, i bought this phone because it has a large screen for the overall size of phone 3.7" it has tough glass and is rugged, it is easy to use and is very reliable, would recommend to all butter fingers- me included -nice phone ,nice price, go for it ps it is quite heavy on battery so if you use it all day get a bigger battery or have charger handy
Great smart phone, easy to use, resonable battery life (usually 2 days) and robust. I have had to reboot it a few times due to it freezing, but apart from that, I'm very pleased with it. Easy to download all the android apps, sat nav is very good and accurate. Overall, apart from the freezing problem which isn't very often, I'm very happy with it.
