Nokia Color LCD Shield Module -Arduino Compatible


Description :

The Color LCD Shield, recommended by and designed in partnership with an SFE customer, provides an easy method of connecting the popular Nokia 6100 LCD to your Arduino USB or Pro. The board comes as shown with the 128x128 mini color LCD, as well as a backlight driver circuit (boosts to 7V), and three momentary push-buttons (tied through a jumper to pins D3-5).

The Nokia 6100 LCD is controlled through a 9-bit SPI interface. The control pins of the LCD are connected to the hardware SPI pins of the Arduino (D13 -SCK, D11 - DIO), the CS pin is tied to D9 and the reset pin is connected to D8. Voltage from the '5V' pin of the Arduino is boosted to 7V to power the LCD backlight.

If you want to use color screen display with Arduino, here we would like to introduce this kind of Nokia color TFT module should be a good choice, this color TFT electronic brick use SPI interface to communicate with Arduino and can provide 132 x 132 display area :
 



The important  interface between this color TFT electronic brick and the Arduino is SPI interface, this project can achieve through the IDC expanded shield and the corresponding cables :
 


Besides the SPI interface,  the color TFT module have the other two pins outside : RESET and LIGHT, respectively used to control RESET for TFT module and backlight. We can use the Arduino sensor shield and special  sensor cables to connect these two pins with Arduino corresponding pins interface. This Color TFT electronic brick is in the design of the main use with the PORTB pin of Arduino, according to the test code, we need to connect RESET interface with Arduino 12th pin, and connect LIGHT interface with Arduino 3th pin :

 

After Circuit connection , then we can go toward to write the corresponding code. This type of Nokia TFT screen has two kinds of control chip : Epson and Philips. We currently test this type of Nokia TFT screen  which based on Philips,if you need, please download the test code LCD_Philips (this code examples mostly refer to Gravitech).
