Almost forgotten lock- up garage find. Vast collection of ROBIN HOOD ENGINEERING spares.

In the dark early hours of a Saturday morning the ROBIN HOOD / LOLOCOST convoy was heading south on the way to a kit car show. My co-pilot, Gina and I were discussing the next anticipated move in the `mag wars', when she got a tip off phone call that VOSA were ahead and were stopping and weighing overloaded lorries, (yes, you have guessed correctly , it's Richard Stewart here, hello.) The` overenthusiastic `baboons', that's what we affectionately called our workers, had overloaded the` LOLOCOST' Transit arctic, so we knew we would be in trouble. As always Gina and I were of one accord,we agreed ,and hatched a plan to partly unload some parts into a lock-up garage which was conveniently almost on route. There they have laid for nearly a decade, and are now offered in the true Robin Hood spirit, at priced to sell, never to be repeated, prices.

We have split the treasure up and Gina has had all of the small handbag sized booty, including a big box of SPAX shock-absorbers, (see her separate listings, (PURPLE FLOWER.)

To diversify slightly, when looking on the internet for the best way to dispose of these parts, it was sad to see that we had been written out of the history of Robin Hood Engineering. Unmentioned and forgotten is the story of how, after firmly establishing ourselves as prestigious Ferrari replica manufacturers, we changed direction. It was the time of the Caterham / Westfield litigation,( which some say, could have been a `put up job' in an attempt to frighten off others and carve up between them, and corner the Lotus 7 kit car market). Fearlessly we came along and offered and sold ,by the bucketful, good, unbelievably affordable kits, fought off successfully, litigation from Caterham, and went on to become the largest kit car manufacturer in the world. (And every working lad could buy one and pretend he was `The Prisoner'.)

This exercise to dispose of these parts brings back memories of the epic mass despatch days when, between 9am and 4pm we despatched from the Mansfield Woodhouse factory, on occasions up to 127 kits, full complete kits at that, memories of Skitz , the most horrid rottvellier dog ever to bite anybody. The 100 tons of stainless steel tube and sheet, that we usually stocked, the customer test drives on Saturdays, the circus type trips to kit car shows, the love / hate relationship between myself and the rebellious owners club, the `comics', (brochures), we produced, all bring back happy memories.

If you now have a Robin Hood kit car, and you are the original owner, its not impossible that myself or Gina remembers you, thanks for buying it then, thanks also in anticipation for the parts you may buy on E-Bay in the near future.

For the record, I am out of cars now, and collect bicycles, Gina , who I see for lunch most Tuesdays, has a new life as a Yoga teacher, and has settled down with a nice, steady chap and two terrific dogs.

On a final note, whilst it would not have been my route, I am impressed with the products of GBSC, they have addressed all the negative criticism, (and I realize there was a lot), aimed at the operation that they inherited. They have now gone on to produce a high quality car, compatible with the best, well done!

Nose cone for Robin Hood, Locost, Kit cars etc, reject quality.  This is truthfully scruffy and has a small area cut away at the rear edges with it being a Robin Hood nose cone it is 25" across and the area that the bonnet sits on is 35" in total.
