This is a beautiful hand made Navajo pin, with excellent stamping, very clean and crisp, and repoussee that is spectacular. Dragon's Breath was only made in the early part of the 20th Century. It's man-made art glass and was used by Native Americans at that time. It's quite difficult to find this rare substance and especially so in Navajo work. This pin was probably made in the 1930s, early Fred Harvey era. The stone has held its polish and glow. It has an excellent opalescence which is difficult to display in pictures which comes from metal somehow infused into the glass, and the whole piece is rather perfect. It can hold it's own alone, though I tend to cluster pins, too. This is a collectible piece in excellent vintage condition. There's nice patina and color to the silver and of course, to the stone, which glows. Dragon's Breath, especially in Native American work, is highly collectible and sought after. Harvey pieces express the style of the old American west. They will always be popular, fun to wear and a good investment. Harvey pieces usually have turquoise stones, and it's not common to find one with a dragon's breath. It makes it even more special and collectible. This piece measures 7/8" long, 1/2" wide and weighs 3.9g. The back of the pin is stamped "sterling." The piece has been tested and examined for purity and is sterling silver. This is a lovely example. You can find some that aren't fabulous in every way but the really fabulous pieces like this, that you know are wonderful, are harder to find because they stay in collections. This can be passed down through the generations and will always be a treasure to own. Please check out my other items! You may have some happy surprises.
