The Rules of Engagement
BIDDING - All eBay sellers love it when we get an early bid. The trouble is, when the listing ends and this is the only bid on the table, I find I have to send the lucky bidder a message asking for payment three days later because they haven't realised they've won. If you like to bid early, please try to remember that you have placed the bid and check when the listing ends - you might be the winner!
PAYMENT - Please pay for your item within 48 hours of the auction ending. I contact all outstanding bidders after 2 days requesting payment. If, after 7 days, I have not had any response, a non-payment case will be opened with eBay - (this can affect your status with eBay and is best avoided). If you are having a problem with payment (through PayPal, or otherwise) please send me a message. If I know there is a problem, I can make allowances. No news is NOT good news!
POSTING - I try to post same day for payment made before 4pm Monday to Friday, however when circumstances prevent I will post the next day. For auctions ending Saturday/Sunday, payments made by 8am Monday morning will be posted Monday. I post all items Second Class and have found that most items arrive within 2-4 days. If you want your item sending First Class, Recorded or Special Delivery, please let me know before you pay as this will incur additional postage costs will need to be added to your invoice. If you wish to collect your item (cash on collection), please contact me immediately after the auction ends to make arrangements.
PAYPAL AND E-CHEQUES - If you usually pay for your items all at once, please check and refresh your purchase history after payment to make sure all items have been paid as sometimes PayPal misses one - usually mine!! Also, beware of e-cheques. For some strange reason PayPal has been offering e-cheques as the only alternative payment method if you have enough PayPal balance to cover your purchase. E-cheques can take up to 7 days to clear and this will delay dispatch of your item until the payment clears. If you are new to eBay, please make sure you have your PayPal account set up correctly before bidding.
MULTIPLE ITEM PURCHASES - If you win an item but are interested in another which finishes later that day, or the following day, please send me a message to tell me what else you are watching, as I usually start to pack each sold item as their auction ends. I give postage discounts for multiple purchases where it is economical to do so. When you've finished your purchases, click on "request total from seller" so that I can calculate your postage discount an send you a revised invoice. Please note that I cannot do this after items have been paid for.
FEEDBACK - I always leave positive feedback for buyers, with comments reflecting their performance, eg. speed of payment, communication, etc. Please do me the courtesy of leaving me positive feedback at the earliest opportunity when you receive your purchase. This lets me know it has arrived safely and that you are happy with it. If there is a problem, however, which you feel prevents you from leaving positive feedback, please contact me beforehand so I can be given the opportunity to resolve it. Leaving neutral or negative feedback does not help anyone and I have the right to reply.
RETURNS - I do not offer a returns policy. The majority of items which I sell are household items, toys and clothing etc, and are in a used state, and listed as thus. I try to give an honest description of my items, they are thoroughly inspected as they are listed and if there are signs of wear, damage or items missing, the listing reflect this. If, on the rare occasion, a defect is spotted after the item has been sold (I check again before packaging) I will contact the buyer to make them aware, and check that they wish to continue with the sale. Therefore, it is at the buyer's discretion as to whether they want to bid on the item.
ITEMS LOST OR DAMAGED IN POST - If an item is lost in the post, please note that it is not 'officially lost' until after 15 working days from date of posting. In many cases a visit to your local sorting office usually gets a result. If it still hasn't turned up after that, let me know and I will start a claim for the loss. Please note this can take up to 8 weeks. If you receive an item and it has been damaged in transit, it is your responsibility to claim for the damage from the Post Office. I will make any necessary paperwork available (proof of posting etc) should you need it from me, but the claim for damage is made by the recipient, not the sender.
