This is a brand new black & white doubled sided folded map highly detailed black & white folded map. They are taken from the OS 1:2,500 (or 25 inch) maps and reduced to about 15 inches to the mile. Each covers an area of a mile and a half by a mile. They show streets with individual houses, farms, schools, churches, tram tracks, railway tracks and even signals, factories, wharves..
A must for the historian, genealogist and anyone interested in local history of Cullercoats & Whitley between the 1891 and 1901 census period. On the reverse of the map is an historic introduction together with 1919 Version and directory extracts for Whitley Bay 1906.
Features on the 1895 version show the NER railway line and Staion, Cullercoats Bay, Whitley Quarry, St Pauls Church, Whitley Park and the North Pier. On the 1919 edition, far more housing has emerged and new churches built, new features include St Cuthberts Church, Coliseum Theatre and the Tram Depot and lines through Whitley Road and Beverley Terrace.
