The maps are highly detailed black & white folded map. They are taken from the OS 1:2,500 (or 25 inch) maps and reduced to about 15 inches to the mile. Each covers an area of a mile and a half by a mile. They show streets with individual houses, tram tracks, railway tracks and even signals, factories, wharves and such details as fountains and water troughs. They will provide hours of fascination for historians and genealogists. The maps are neatly folded and each includes a specially written introduction to the area.
This map is a must for the historian, genealogist and anyone interested in local history of Cullercoats & Whitley between the 1891 and 1901 census period. It shows great detail of streets, houses, churches, schools railway lines, factories, cemeteries etc.

This detailed map is double-sided rural map and shows the area in . 1895 and 1919. Features on the 1895 version show the NER railway line and Staion, Cullercoats Bay, Whitley Quarry, St Pauls Church, Whitley Park and the North Pier. On the 1919 edition, far more housing has emerged and new churches built, new features include St Cuthberts Church, Coliseum Theatre and the Tram Depot and lines through Whitley Road and Beverley Terrace. On the reverse of the map we include an extract from a street directory for Whitley Bay 1905-1906.
The map links up with sheet 81.12 Hartley to the north and Tyneside sheet 1 Tynemouth to the south.
The front map details Whitley from Whitley Park, East Parade, Whitley Cottages, North Parade, South Parade, Countess Street, Duke Street, Northumberland Square, School, Vicarage, St Paul's Church & grave yard, Whitley House, Hotel, Front Street, Whitley Hall, Victoria Terrace, down to the NER Newcastle Tynemouth & Newcastle Line, Station, Whitley New Row, Whitleyhill Heads, Windmill Pump, Whitley Quarry, Reservoir, New Whitley, The Tower, Quarry Inn, Marden House, Marden and above Promenade, Rockcliffe, Cheviot View, Trinity Church, Percy Road, Whitley Road, Albany Terrace, Devonshire Terrace, Eastcliffe, down to Cullercoats, Brows Point, Watch House, Lifeboat House, North Pier, Cullercoats Bay, St Oswalds Home, Station Road, Station, Eleanor Street, School, St John Street, school, Dolve Street, Hudleston Street,Meth Chap, Front Street, Back Row, Bank top etc There is an insert on the top page with Beverley Terrace, Lawn Tennis Ground, Vicarage and St Georges Church, Tynemouth North Point, Crab Hill, Saddle Rocks.
The Map on the reverse is the 1919 edition of Whitley Bay and Cullercoats from North Parade, York Road, down to the Station, Mission Room, The Tower, Quarry Inn, Reservoir, Marden Cottages, Marden House, Marden and plots of land to bottom of map.
