Original 1950's Suede Leather Jacket (New with tags!)

Presenting a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a genuine 1950s Montgomery Ward suede bomber jacket  that until recently was stored in an attic in America

This is an incredibly rare find, one of the rarest jackets that you will ever see on Ebay

This is NOT a reproduction......incredibly the jacket was made in the 1950s (yes the 1950s) and yet is unused and still has its original tags attached. 60 years later and it looks like it has just come out of a shop.........infact the phrase "it looks like a million dollars" just about sums up this jacket

Whether you buy this to wear or as a collectible item you will not be disappointed. I was completely stunned when I first saw it and I am sure you will be too

This classic shawl collar jacket was sourced from America where it had spent 60 years stored carefully in a cedar box in someone's attic, totally untouched,  and is thus perfectly preserved

The following is taken from this online article that refers to this very jacket:

http://www.theweejun.com/index.php/recent-finds-1950s-deadstock-montgomery-ward-suede-bomber/

Montgomery Ward was the original mail order catalogue, set up in the 19th century to supply farmers and homesteaders with items from back East that were simply unavailable in the West. The original source of all today’s online stores that allow us to buy niche or foreign made products from anywhere in the world!

The tags on this jacket show that it’s made of the kind of chamois suede that was hugely popular in American from the 1940s onwards – both Scotch, with their still current Scotchguard technology, and Dupont, with their Quilon brand, made water and stain resistant coatings for suede jackets and many, like this example, were also washable! The tanners of this particular item, Kroy, marketed their suede as “Miracle suede by Kroy washable dry cleanable water and stain resistant–American Certified Institute of Laundering”. Such claims helped fine suede to move from being the domain of the rich to being an everyday catalog item – even boy’s bomber jackets could be found in suede!

For many reasons it is undoubtedly the most extraordinary jacket that I have ever come across. Despite being 60 years old the suede retains all of its beautiful colour and is just exquisitely soft to the touch. Incredibly, it is washable too!

It was so well stored for all those years that it is still in absolutely spotless, pristine, brand new condition. As good as the day it was made

Size:   46 (people were smaller in those days and although this has quite a relaxed fit I would say it would best suit a chest in the region of 43-46")

Dimensions:

  • Chest size from armpit to armpit...................23"
  • Jacket length from collar to hem.................. 27"
  • Jacket length from shoulder to hem.............26
  • Sleeve length from armpit to cuff.................18 1/2"

Features

  • Made from water and stain resistant, washable, chamois suede
  • Front zip fastening with sturdy metal zip pull
  • Shawl collar
  • Twin lower slip pockets
  • Ribbed and elasticated cuffs and waistband
  • Tartan pattern cotton lining
  • All original tags still attached

Overall, this is a unique opportunity to purchase a brand new yet 60 year old jacket.................how bizarre does that sound......... but it's true!

I doubt I will ever see the like of this jacket again, it truly is remarkable and thus I feel it is worth every penny of the asking price
