DONEGALCOTTAGES by DENNIS ORME SHAW
This is an original painting of typical Irish COTTAGES in DONEGAL, Ireland and is by the highly acclaimed local artist DENNIS ORME SHAW.
Dennis Orme Shaw was born in 1944 at Cookstown, County Tyrone and now lives in Kircubbin on the Ards Peninsula.
In 1965 he attended Belfast College and attained an Art Diploma. The following year in 1966 he gained a National Diploma in Design. Further achievements include;
1962 - 1967 Belfast College of Art;
1967 Art Teachers Diploma;
1993 Silver Medal RUAA Exhibition;
1994 Silver Medal Award RUA Exhibition;
1998 First Trust Award, Arts Society of Ulster;
1999 ASU Perpetual Trophy for best painting in 3rd annual exhibition;
2003 Silver Medal ASU;
His style is multi faceted - being almost as varied as his subject matter, which includes vibrant landscape studies, still life, figure studies and musicians. Dennis Orme Shaw's art is often traditional in subject matter, cottages in secluded areas of Ireland, however they are presented in a contemporary way through brushstrokes and incredible use of colour. Many of his paintings use bold and vivid colours while emphasizing the effect of sunshine on the subject matter.
