The work's fuller title: "Thinking Black: Twenty-Two Years Without a Break in the Long Grass of Central Africa".

First edition published by Morgan and Scott, London, in 1912. Title page (and a few interior pages) printed in red and black. Free from prior ownership inscriptions and permanent markings to the text. Although interior condition is overall very good, book displays  minor signs of use or age — periodic foxing / discolouration to some pages; one or two small edge tears without loss of text or image — consistent with a printed object of this vintage. A few pages are unopened and uncut, as originally issued. All xvi preliminary pages + 485 pp main text + 18pp index + publisher's ads at end are complete and otherwise correct. Tops of all pages are gilt-edged.
