Tiny macro lens with good quality images. Not the best macro lens but okay. Nice feel on the focus ring despite this being a focus-by-wire lens. OIS very good about what you get on the other Lumix lenses. Good looking lens hood but a bi plastic.
At almost £500 new, this - the first true macro lens for Micro Four Thirds - is pricey. However, it's a very competent, autofocus-capable, 1:1 magnification macro lens. Panasonic G-system owners in particular will love it! It's compact and lightweight, well laid out and capable of extremely precise focus. There are very few negatives - e.g. like some other Panasonic lenses, the OIS unit rattles disconcertingly until mounted on a powered-up camera, the rectangular lens hood doesn't reverse for storage on the lens and, although very good for portraits, it's not always capable of the required selective focus and background blurring. On balance, however, this is an extremely useful little lens that gives very pleasing results.
