Lawrence Of Arabia

Do You Want To Get Your Hands On This Rare Classy GENUINE Framed Peter O'Toole (Lawrence Of Arabia) Autograph With Solid Brass Display Easel?

Please make sure to read this to the very end ....

O.k first things first why am I selling this wonderful thing?

Simple ... I need the cash to put towards a holiday I am planning but I won't bore you with the unnecessary details. So instead let me cut right to the chase and address a very important question that you are probably thinking right now as you read this, which is:

                                                                            Is This A FAKE !!!

Before I answer this let me point out my 7 + years on ebay and my 100% feedback score to help put your mind at rest. Why do I need to do this? I need to do it because I'm sure you are aware of all the fake scam autographs sold on ebay every day and you have every right to be extremely cautious.  I would be I must be honest .

However let me reassure you this is the real deal ... how do I know ? Because I researched about buying autographs before I bought this back in 2011 or to be more specific 21st of Jan 2011. The reason I know the exact purchase date is because I still have the original receipt from the award winning UACC registered autograph dealer Robert Saunders here's Robert's site url.

If you pop over there you can see he won the converted 2010 UACC Autograph Dealer Of The Year. Please note Robert Saunders autographs use to be called Arundel Autograph Gallery. Please do your own research and phone up Robert or contact them to verify.

Certificate Of Authenticity's Aren't Worth The Paper They Are Written On ...

Don't get me wrong I have one along with the original invoice / receipt that will be sent to you with the autograph but as you know anyone can produce a C.O.A and I personally would not rely on one to give me peace of mind that I was buying a genuine work.

What is much more important is a invoice from a reputable professional autograph dealer who is registered with the UACC. Which is exactly what you will get.

Why is this invoice/ receipt so important? It's because the buyer gets life time cover for the purchase if the work is found to be wrong and the dealer will honour it. Robert told me personally this has happened to him once in 14 years as a professional autograph dealer !!!! But he honoured his word on that occasion never the less .

O.k so you are buying a genuine autograph .... BUT :

Not All Autographs Are Created Equal

You are still reading this because you saw the picture and you want this. I don't blame you I was the same when I first saw this in Robert's online portfolio. This is no ordinary             Peter O'Toole autograph ... it's sheer class !!!! As you can see for yourself.

                                                               Class Class Class

I must of searched through hundreds and hundreds of examples before I saw this. The elegant large black and white photo with large signature in black marker (not blue) is a much prized example and a beautiful thing. You will often see a picture mounted with a autograph placed underneath. These are inferior because the autograph is not on the photo !! The dealer has just combined a standard autograph on paper with a relevant photo but they are separate never the less  !!!!!! Be rest assured this is a signed photo.

It was signed at the London Theatre and Robert classes it as a fine example. It is a 10 by 8 inch black & white photo of Peter O'Toole from the movie Lawrence Of Arabia with large black autograph signed in black felt pen .

Photographs ... The Good The Bad & The Ugly

No matter how good the autograph is if it is on a unattractive photo it loses its appeal straight away. I saw lots of examples of this on my own journey to secure this work. When you see a class photo you know as soon as you set eyes on it. This autograph is one such example as you can see.

Look at the left facing pose, notice how the white outfit merges into the corresponding white background with the black signature signed beautifully on a upward angle to match the pose of the actor .. this is about as good as it gets !!

But wait there's more ...

Presentation Is The Key

I bought the 10 by 8 inch black & white autograph for£135 from Robert on 21/01/2011. He told me if I framed it, it would need a mount to keep the photo away from the glass and more importantly I must ensure a acid free mount board is used. This is exactly what my local picture framer did for me.

My local picture framer is a real art buff and knows his stuff so I said to him imagine this is yours how would you mount and frame it?

He Was A Massive Peter O'Toole Fan

It helped that he was a massive Peter O'Toole fan and he said he didn't even need to think about it he knew as soon as he saw it. He said as it was a classy elegant black and white photo which was predominantly white he would use a matt black mount board to extenuate the piece and also frame it in a custom made black wood frame. He wanted the mount board and frame to merge with no separation as this would really lift the photo and make it the main focal point as the mount and frame would not compete for attention and in essence disappear. But then he said:

All You Need to Do Is Add Brass .. No Other Colours

He said the work is black and white so keep the work black& white. However he strongly recommended we introduce brass. This is because brass and black really go well together as the black background lifts the brass and brings it to life.

So his recommendation was to get a solid brass plaque engraved and buy a good quality solid brass display easel to display it on.

Which I did  ..... the inscription just says

Lawrence Of Arabia

After writing all this I must confess I am considering not selling it (lol)!!! Maybe I can buy it back from you at a later date ??? So with that said:

How Much Do I want ?

This cost me a total of £200 back in Jan 2011

  • Autograph = £135
  • Custom frame & Mount = £30
  • Plaque = £10
  • Display easel = £25

Total = £200

That was 3 years ago and unfortunately Peter has since passed which was a huge loss he really was a class act and an incredible talent. My personal favourite films he starred in where

  • Lawrence Of Arabia
  • Becket
  • The Lion In Winter  (wow!!!! what a performance!)

So put it this way I would like more than £200 and to be honest as much as possible so I can put it towards my holiday (lol)!!!

Anyway thank you so much for reading this all the way to the end and if you want to own this wonderful thing place your bid with confidence knowing you are bidding on the real deal.

I hope you win and it brings as much pleasure to you as it has to me.
