I have used this shaver for a few weeks now and in the main I am pleased with it. It's light in weight and has a comfortable grip. I get a good shave compared to my old Philips triple head shaver which admittedly could have done with a new cutting head. I am not however overjoyed with the trimmer which comes as a separate fitting meaning that the shaver head has to be removed to enable fitment of the trimmer. I find this to be slightly awkward to achieve. Having said this, the trimmer works perfectly well once fitted. At the price, a case or pouch of some sort would have been useful as would a brush. All in all I am pleased with the product. It gives me a good shave which in the end is what it's all about.

Recommended with reservations. Value depends on what you pay but not at full price. Quality seems good. The shaving is very good and quiet. But it is not convenient to hold. The head points more upwards than the Rem. Hyperfl. which can be held comfortably with one grip for the whole job. This 5000 requires wrist twisting or change of grip and still without a safe grip. It tempts you to put a thumb on the front with risk of switching off by accident. Design the head to point a bit lower and it would be excellent.

I have been a user of Philips dry shavers for 40 years and the series 5000 doesn't disappoint. The ability to wash the head under the tap is new to me but is a useful feature. the flexing of the cutting heads is the strongest feature of all Philips shavers. I hope it lasts as long as the 5 years I've used its predecessor.

Bought to replace an old faithful Philips I'd had for years rather than buying it another set of new heads. Must say disappointed with the shavers performance - didn't give that new shaver closeness, old one still shaved closer despite being years old - might be because old one has 'lift and cut' heads? Would look for 'lift and cut' or its equivalent for a further replacement.

purchased this to replace my Phillips shave I have, had for over twenty years. Its build quality is flimsy at best. it has no real guts and doesn't get near enough to the stubble. Waste of time and money. Go for a more solid build Philips razor.
