Captain Smith, as well as most of his Senior Officers are on board. So are many of the stokers and engine room personnel. Thomas Andrews, the ship's Chief Carpenter, and head of the Harland & Wolff Shipyard is on board as an adviser and design technician.
The image was taken by a White Star Line photographer hired for the archival records department.
At this time, the trials are finished and the Legendary Super Liner is being escorted into the shipping lanes (note the small port sea buoy very distant far right) to make her way to Southampton by night fall.
