I've owned one of these for quite a few years now and with the exception of the newer Pioneer Kuro models nothing even comes close to the picture quality this has to offer. Even more remarkable is the fact this model is only 720p resolution and completley wipes the floor with ANY 1080p model from rival manufacturers today...easily!! Do yourself a favour and forget the Samsung and LG garbage that's flooding the market these days, this Pioneer is in a completley different league!! Absolutley stunning colour and contrast with none of the fake and "cartoonish" characteristics of lcd or led panels, picture quality is very realistic when set up correctly, shadow detail is simply breathtaking and the viewing angle is immense. This plasma excels with bluray as its source, thriving on HD,where its inherent technology quality shines through, movies being shown in all their glorious detail and high speed action scenes being delivered smoothly and with minimal motion blur. This plasma hasn't put a foot wrong in all the years I've owned it,being 100% reliable and drawing many admirers(everyone comments on it...even when its switched off!!! Maybe the Pioneer badge has something to do with it!!) When paired with high quality amplification and speakers, this screen will form the basis of a top end home theatre system, you'll struggle to find better.Read full review
The pioneer pdp506xde is still today two generations old one of the best screens on the market. Only being 1080i not 1080p shouldn't make you think less of it in any way whatsoever, the standered definition feed for this pannel is absolutley fantastic producing very sharp images with good definition and great contrast. It can be a little brash if you leave all the settings as standard but if you have a fiddle with the couler temperature and nock the sharpness down abit you can get a much more relistict picture only to be beaten by the newest range of pioneer screens.
