Good film, prefer the storyline of the original, but this one has more up to date effects and apes are more realistic. I am glad they didnt try and remake the original with this movie.
I bought this movie because Tim Burton's movies have never disappointed in the past. However, I found that this movie was a real plodder and so predictable, and not a patch on the original Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston, which was one of my childhood favourites. I think what the movie lacked was the philosophical exchanges between ape and man. It was just a running away and being chased movie with battle scenes. The monkey masks were well designed and very expressive, much more expressive than the man-hero, whose acting was very uninspiring. Next time I will go to bed with a good book instead!
Director Tim Burton's so-called reimagining of Pierre Boulle's famous story lacks the narrative drive and shock-power of the original movie starring Charlton Heston. The story here is weak and predictable - although the ending is clever enough. But by light years the best feature of the film is the magnificent, militaristic music by Danny Elfman.
Brilliant story, with a neat twist at the end.... Brilliant! Great acting from the lead roles and really nice visually.
