sleeve Used, but in perfect working order A multi-purpose computer suitable for both flying club and
high-performance aircraft (speed range 50 – 800 knots). The front side is for working out course to steer and groundspeed, by calculating wind effect
on direction and speed - graphical solution of the triangle of velocities, if
you care about these things. Or if you know your track and groundspeed you can even work out the wind. The rear face is a multi-function converter – a circular
slide rule for multiplication/division, working out ETA, conversion between
statute miles, nautical miles and kilometres, between IAS/TAS and Mach Number. This ‘whizzwheel’ has flown thousands of miles with me over
the years and is still going strong (to be fair, there isn’t much to go
wrong!). |
