|Seller notes:||“Hard to find Gibson in good condition.”|
These USA Gibson Challenger's don't come along very often.
Made in the early 80's this one was made in 1983.
It's a single cutaway, solid mahogany body finished in black.
Wrap around tailpiece with adjustable brass saddles.
There are various minor nicks and dings, surface scratches and light finish checking on the guitar.
But all in all it's in good shape for a 30 + year old guitar.
The Challenger features a maple neck which has developed a mellow yellow patina.
It has a dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlay.
The neck is nice and straight and the frets are hardly marked.
Dual humbuckers with black covers and a 3 way toggle switch.
Single ply black pickguard in good condition with no cracks.
The Gibson chrome tuners are in great condition and working perfectly although one has lost it's Gibson decal.
The nut width is 1 11/16" and the scale length is 24 3/4".
It seems one of the volume controls has been removed as there is a small plastic cap where it should be.
The electrics still work fine and there is volume and tone from the two knobs.
Other small issues are non original tone /volume plastic knobs.
There is glazing on the varnish on the front and back of the headstock.
The varnish binding has broken up a bit on the edge of the right hand side of the neck.
The screws on the bridge are marked where they have been tightened and loosened over the years.
These are really minor issues that can be sorted without too much fuss.
So a Gibson that has a starting price of 99p and no reserve.
A nice addition for the Gibson enthusiast.
