PRIDE of my SG collection - Rare collectors'
item in incredible condition, with original 1980s Gibson case in mint
(I have included in vintage section as this is one of the few SGs that Gibson began producing with side input late 70s, early 80s)
This 1983 gem spent 15 years as a showpiece in a
I have another set of Tim Shaws on an 80s SG, and, in particular, the neck humbucker is AMAZING. Multi-layered tones with warm lush sound. It remains the best I've ever heard.
It's pretty rare in itself - but what makes it unique is its condition. The guitar is nearly 30-years-old but looks new - no dings, perfect scratchless neck zero fret wear, mirror-like pick-up covers. Very few light strumming marks on scratchplate and a slight imperfection on one of the volume knobs.
No new parts, no glazing replacement, just a guitar that's been looked after immaculately.
The very 1980s chainsaw case is the original and you can see it hasn't been gigged, as this is also in great condition.
Guitar serial number: 80543515
Humbucker ink Stamps: 596 982 (neck) and double stamped 595 383 (bridge)...neck pick-up made in 1982, bridge in 1983 and are originals for this guitar.
There is no 'electrical' wear at all on the pick-ups, either back or front which is a good indication that this hasnt been played much.
The only time I've ever seen a guitar like this is on this link to American SG expert Joe the guitarman. It's essentially exactly the same as he sold, but in much better condition, and dated one year later.
Take a look at the link...
