For sale is a rare presentation cup awarded to Major Arthur Robert Brocklehurst on completion of his tour as regular adjutant of 15th (Scottish Volunteers) Battalion the Parachute Regiment and who had previously served with the SAS and was Second In Command of the Northern Frontier Regiment in the Oman and Dhofar War. A gallantry medal winner and featured heavily with photos in two books published by Pen and Sword. The cup is in fantastic condition with minor wear and deep hand engraving. This truly is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history focusing on a conflict out shadowed by Vietnam but some would consider of far more importantance. Below I have written a bio of Major Brocklehurst's service:

Major Brocklehurst had a very interesting and distinguished career, he was born on the 6/10/1938 and enlisted into the Parachute Regiment as a Second Lieutenant on the 15/11/1958. After serving with the Parachute Regiment Brocklehurst took an SAS attachment to Oman in the mid 1960's fighting in the Dhofar War, after his 18 month SAS attachment he became second in command of the Northern Frontier Regiment and also commanded Red Company which was an Omani SF Company. He was fluent in Arabic and was vital in keeping up the Omani soldiers moral and was well respected by all. In 1969 Brocklehurst was awarded the Sultans Medal For Distinguished Service (Gallantry) whilst serving in the "Jebel" (citation included) with the Northern Frontier Regiment. Brocklehurst was presented with the cup when his posting as regular adjutant to the 15th (Scottish Volunteer) Battalion Parachute Regiment came to an end. Brocklehurst left the Parachute Regiment and the army in 1972 but immediately took a position as a Contract officer back in the Oman serving for another 20 years in Oman/Dhofar War.
Brocklehurst is heavily featured in two books; "In The Service Of The Sultan" by Brigadier Ian Gardiner and "Dangerous Frontiers" (includes a photo of Brocklehurst) by Colonel James Bryan Ray, Ray was his CO in the NFR and life long friend.
Brocklehurst had a troubled personal life, he was an alcoholic and a heavy smoker. Eventually his troubled life caught up with him and he committed suicide by drowning himself in the sea on the South Coast.
