You are looking at a very rare Double Top Tube Raleigh Roadster. It has a Sturmey Archer hub date of 1960 making the bike at least 50 years old..
If you do a search on ebay for double top tube roadsters you will find very few if any..
Let me start by saying I'm assuming that this is a Raleigh offering for that year (aficionados of vintage bikes might beg to differ) as I've noticed Raleigh stamped on the rod brake calipers, It could well be a BSA or a Rudge Whitworth!
There is no head badge or other Raleigh decals on the bike. These I'm assuming got removed/painted over! when the bike was given a respray at sometime in its 50 year life in the current shade of blue it is now.
From what I can see the bike was originally a dark Navy blue (the rear triangle of the frame is still this colour.. must of been missed when it was resprayed!)
Because of this respray the bike is in surprisingly good condition with no rust on the frame but there are still some scratches and scrapes on the finish from age or use.
The Bike has shiny very good condition 28" Westrick stainless steel wheels shod with 28 x 1 1/2 inch roadster tyres in worn but usuable condition..
The bike uses a 4 speed Sturmey Archer 'dyno-four' rear hub with a 4 speed trigger. All gears change ok.
The original Sturmey Archer dynamo lights still function ok.
The bike has a Brooks B66 leather saddle that is worn but is still surprisingly comfortable
The chrome finish on the handlebars, brake levers, seatpost etc is worn/rusty in places but are all original. parts
This is a very tall bike (double top tube bikes were designed for the tallest men at the time plus the extra tube made the bike frame extra rigid for big riders) with its 25" frame but with the seatpost at its lowest a rider of just under 6 foot should be able to ride it safely
If you wanted you could probably get this bike professionally resprayed to black or even back to the original Navy blue but as-is it makes for an unusual but a very nice usuable classic that actually rides very nicely!
Due to the size (and weight!) of this bicycle I am selling this as collection only, though if you are within 10 miles of my location and you cannot collect I can offer free delivery in my van. If you want a delivery payment is to be made in advance via paypal.
If you have any questions please ask.

I would prefer once you click the buy-it-now button that you areable to collect the bike within 4 days unless you have contacted mepreviously to make other arrangements.
Please be aware that you are buying a used vintage bike that is usually at least 25 years old so the bike might not be as shiny and rust free as you had envisaged. Digital photography can make a bike look nicer in the picture than in the flesh. (This is why I prefer buyers to collect rather than having it despatched) so they can view and be happy with their purchase!

ALL Auction winners and Buy-it-now buyers must contact me within 3 days (If you have less than 10 feedbacks within 24 hours) with their intentions to collect and payment method (this is not needed of course if you pay instantly with paypal). If you do not contact me after the 3rd day of Winning/Buying I shall contact you once. If I am not contacted within 24 hours after that I shall assume you are a non-paying winner, relist the item and implement the necessary proceeding to retrieve my ebay fees. This ultimately leads to you receiving a non-payer strike on your account 3 of which can lead to a suspension of your account by Ebay...
