Cap/ Hat Badges

A Very Rare WW2 Polish 2nd Rifle Division also known as the Polish 2nd Fusilier Division Medal Group of 4 with Rare DSP Badges & Dog Tags. The Medals are the WW2 Polish Army Cross of 1939 September War 1939, Polish Order of the Western Front and 2 French Medals these being the French WW2 Croix De Guerre and the French Combatants Cross. The 2nd Polish Rifle Division was part of the recreated Polish Army in France in 1940 and I am assuming this is how Franciszek Druschke won his French Medals. The division (numbering 15,830 soldiers) was commanded by Brigadier-General Bronislaw Prugar-Ketling, and was based from late December 1939 to May 1940 at Parthenay in Eastern France. Under Prugar-Ketling the division was charged with holding the defences around Belfort, Alsace. Assigned to part of the French reserves,[1]XXXV Corps. Engaged in heavy fighting from June 17 to 19 near the Doubs and Saone rivers, it stopped a German attack on the Clos-du-Doubs hills.but due to the (unknown to the Poles) rapid retreat of the nearby French forces it was surrounded by the Germans; nonetheless it managed to break through to Switzerland over 20–21 June 1940, where its soldiers were interned for the rest of the war, although many "escaped" back into France and eventually made their way to England to rejoin the Polish forces there. On the Dog Tag is AP Druschke 1914 Franciszek RZ178/1 KAT. I have found out that Franciszek Druschke was born in Katowice in 1914 and was naturalised a British Citizen on 12 July 1951. He was a handyman and Polisher. The badages are very scarce. The DSP Cp badge has been "rounded" and has the correct knurled screw fitting to the rear. The other DSP Breast Badge has the flags of France Poland and Britain on it and has the makers name of Huguenin Logle to the rear and the fixing screw is also maker marked. A really rare lot that I am selling with low start and no reserve. Note I do not end my auctions early.
