I'm reluctantly selling my prized 1986 Guild Studio 24.
This rare guitar - less than 150 were produced - was designed by George Gruhn, is a real joy to play and is perfect for a whole variety of styles. I've fitted it with an original Mimesis pickup (far better-sounding than the Fishman version) which works really well for jazz and acoustic gigs. Condition wise it is virtually mint with almost no marks. The case is non-original (I've never seen an original case) and is a Dean case, padded out for the Guild. The original catalogue description was: The innovative double-cutaway Studio 24 marks a radical departure from traditional acoustic thinking. It is the only acoustic guitar with full access to 24 frets. It is the only acoustic cutaway with full support under the fingerboard--all the way to the 23rd fret. Support is supplied by the neck and the block under the neck to provide clean, ringing notes that sustain in the upper register. Most cutaways do not supply support to the fingerboard past the neck joint causing the upper register notes to die quicly while the Studio 24 rings clearly. The guitar is built with top grade spruce, highly flamed maple backs and sides, inlaid headstock, inlaid ebony fingerboard and complete grained pearloid binding. The guitar is fitted with deluxe tuning machines. It's a really cool-looking guitar (check this YouTube video - http://youtu.be/De3AJmCVNUg) and I'm really sorry to be letting it go, but it just doesn't get played enough to justiy keeping it any longer... Rare, great-sounding, great playing, cool as ice - what's not to like.....? Happy bidding..... |
