Where do I begin?!!!!
First off I am regrettably selling my 1983 MK1 Renault Trafic Classic Camper!! I have recently been offered a new position and have to move up to Scotland and therefore am selling the van in order to purchase a faster vehicle to allow me to get up and down the country to see my family and girlfriend easier.
I bought the van 6 months ago, did some work on her, traveled around France in her (2,300 problem free miles), and now unfortunately have her up for sale.
There are a few dinks and scratches, which are to be expected from a 30 year old vehicle. These are all pictured.
First the Positives:
Sleeps and seats 4 (2 hammocks, and sofas can be converted into seats)
Fully Self sufficient electric, gas, and water supply (all work amazingly)
Sink, Hob, Grill, and Oven inc.
Spare wing mirror, plethora of fuses, and manual also included.
Economical (30-35 Mpg)
Stupidly good fun to drive
Bottom has been damp proofed (to stop rust)
The van is SWB (short wheel based) and therefore fits into normal car parking spaces
Minor rust spots
Tax runs out Aug. 2013 (Can be renewed at the cost of the buyer)
MOT due 9th Sept 2013 (Passed last year with 3 advisories as pictured) the oil leak has been fixed and the exhaust has been replaced
Work I have had done:
New exhaust (front pipe and silencer box)
Fuel lines and fuel tank cleaned out and relined
Fitted a leisure battery and relay system (self charging leisure battery)
Sorted out rust spots (Treated them and therefore resprayed the whole van)
OK so lets talk about the logistics/mechanical capability etc..
Since owner the camper I have racked up 6000 miles (since feb 2013) as I use the vehicle as a car, the van has caused me no problems whatsoever mechanically, the engine purrs, and it has never failed to get me from A to B. I have traveled from the North to the South of France and back up again, drove from the South West to Snowdonia on a number of occasions, and used the van as my daily vehicle to get to and from work etc. The max speed of the van is in the late 50's i.e. 58-60 MPH and therefore it makes it extremely economical. The van has 4 gears, (5 inc. reverse) and has a 1.4 Petrol Engine. It has a Choke and needs the choke out to get started when it hasn't been run in a while.
I seriously have no doubt that the van will pass the MOT or only need minor work done as it is mechanically sound and I have looked after it and genuinely cared for it since I have owned her. As mentioned above I would be taxing and MOTing the vehicle myself if it were not for my change of Circumstances. I love her to bits. I really do.
If you have anymore questions please don't hesitate to contact me directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
I live in a rural area in Somerset and therefore do not get any phone signal, if you would like to discuss the vehicle/arrange a viewing please get in touch via email and I can ring you to discuss things further.
I am severely hoping that she goes to a good home.
If you are not familiar with old engines and would like a run down come and have a look as I'll explain things the best I can.
Cash or Bank transfer on Collection.
I can get her to Bristol for collection if it is easier, otherwise collection will be from my place of work, Postcode TA4.
On 30-Aug-13 at 09:06:04 BST, seller added the following information:
The van has been relisted due to the previous reserve not being met. The reserve has now been lowered as the tax will have expired, and the MOT is getting ever closer. The van will have to be collected from TA10 (postcode) as I am moving away before the end of the auction. Cash on collection, all the documentation will be with the van, and obviously sold as seen :)!
