Now for the description...
This is my Schwinn Bomber 88 Stage Four full suspension mountain bike, that I only finished building Saturday 5th April 2014. I have now had a chance to ride it on the road and it performs really well. By the way, the '88' stands for the amount of suspension movement at the back; 88 mm. The front forks have travel that can be adjusted from 80 - 100 mm; I have it set to 100 mm. For the UK, that is more than ample suspension travel!
This quality Schwinn frame is constructed from 7005 light weight aluminium, therefore the bike is light yet still strong. It has the original paint, so will have a few chips and rub marks, as you would expect from a used frame. I do not like to 'touch up' or 're-paint' frames, as this loses the originality. Also, you can see what you are buying; nothing is 'covered up...' In my opinion, the paintwork is actually in quite good condition.
The bike would have been even lighter if I hadn't gone down the double crown fork route but I was after something that performed well downhill at our Welsh bike parks as well as able to go up hill, rather than building yet another 'weight weenie'
The Rock Shox front forks have been overhauled and are coil over oil. In other words, the suspension is done by coil springs in each leg and oil damping in one leg; adjustable from the outside at the bottom of the leg. I have increased the weight of the oil from 5 wt to 10 wt, as I considered the damping inadequate; this is a recognised upgrade by Rock Shox. The rear suspension matches up well, as it is also coil over oil and made by Rock Shox.
The bike has been given a new set of bottom suspension links (the proper genuine Schwinn modified ones, not the poor quality originals). The top suspension link arms have been 'beefed up' and modified by our engineering department at work, to cope with anything you could throw at it. It has also had new 'DX style' pedals (in orange to almost match the frame), new headset & spacers, nos seatpost, nos shifters, nos saddle, nos chainrings, nos brake levers, new cables and new chain (nos = new old stock). All of the other components are in excellent condition and have been either restored or serviced. This means you are buying something that is ready to ride and in really good condition.

I originally built this bike to use to and from work, which usually takes in some excellent downhills, singletrack and jumps in the woods between my house and work. This will obviously give you some idea as to why I spec'd the bike the way I did...

This will give you an idea of how I haven't rushed the build, as I did have 6 retro bikes at the time, including this one. Which, I might add, is why I have this bike up for sale on eBay; MY WIFE SAYS I HAVE TOO MANY BIKES TO RIDE!!! It was getting to the point of either the bikes had to go or the wife. And seeing as the bikes can't cook or clean the house, it had to be a reduction in the amount of the bikes I had. Well I'm down to 3 bikes now, due to concerted effort my me to pare down my collection, so once this one is gone to a good home, my own home will be less 'bikey' and my wife will be less 'spikey...
If I have missed anything, just send me a question or request for more photos/information.
I have road tested the bike to work on the road, not off it and it runs really well. I decided not to thrash it off road, as that's your pleasure once you own it, not mine.
As I said at the beginning, free packaging and postage in mainland UK, so no need to delay, buy today!
PLEASE NOTE!!! Please do not waste my time offering to buy bits and pieces off of the bike; it is for sale in one piece only!
Lastly, if you are not going to actually pay for this bike, please do not bid. I do not have the energy or patience to deal with that sort or rubbish at the moment...
