Frame Material:

Dave Russell handbuilt frame circa 1970's perhaps

The Story
I bought this frame off a close friend of Dave Russell
he believed it to have been built in the 70's out of Reynolds 531 SL super light
It has had a "heavy" but good repaint at some point in its life so the original stickers have gone
However the weight is an impressively light 1946 grams which i believe certainly puts it in the more exotic end of the spectrum of 531 frames
It has adjustable Campagnolo dropouts
The braze-ons are all rather lovely, built up it really would look quite special
All the brazing of the joints looks perfect as you might expect from one of the best in the business

The Bad
alas at some point it has come a cropper
the top tube and down tube are slightly kinked
The frame is still in line ( i have put forks and wheels on it to check)
I would argue that it is still strong and rideable but I wouldn't as it would look a bit naff and the steering would be quite sharp
I bought this frame thinking i could repair it myself for some brazing practice
In truth the frame is too good for me to have a go at it, it deserves better and i have too many other projects to store it indefinitely or stump up the cash myself for a full repair
it is certainly worth paying someone like argos cycles to repair it

The Geometry
I measured it approximately as follows
Theoretical top tube length 54cm
Seat tube length 54cm~55cm
Chainstay length 420mm
Headtube length 135mm

these dims put it at a medium i guess
it appears to have a slightly sloping top tube (compact stylee) rather than traditional flat/horizontal

The disclaimer
I pride myself on the accuracy of my listings,
However, opinion of condition is subjective so if in any doubt please ask or look elesewhere
