Well up to the standard of Rick Stein travel cook books. Excellent, clear recipes and pics but especially enjoy the written text describing food, people and places on the journey.

Take the book off the shelf, open it up, look for a recipe and find yourself requiring something, a herb, a spice, a paste, possibly all three that you have NEVER heard of let alone seen in your local supermarket or even the nearest deli. At best you look for something that you hope is similar in someway-although being told something has a unique flavour can be a downer. Or you take some inspiration from it and do what I do, experiment, find your own flavours with what you can get hold of. I did take the time to go on line and two of the spices in the book I found and paid a substantial sum for that means it will be a once only experience using them. That is once they turn up. That is if they do not get lost in the Christmas avalanche of post. THE ONLY way to enjoy this book is to spend a few thousand pounds and going to these countries for a couple of months. Just super recipes. I’ve made several already. And the photographs are excellent! Very evocative of the Mediterranean atmosphere, light and colour. A superb book of very accessible recipes redolent of lovely holidays in the Mediterranean.

Brilliant cookbook! Love all the recipes. Good value for money and deliverd quickly. Only downside was the recipe I particularly wanted (cougette fritters) wasn't in this book. My fault for choosing the wrong book. Should have checked first!
