I already own two of the older model, without bluetooth. I rate the ECO 4 as the best DAB radio on the market at anything like the price. Sound controls are excellent, producing beautiful, crisp tone, and the battery life is great (and cheap, when using good quality rechargeables). Better than several other Roberts DAB radios, too!

As someone that repairs radios, and electronic equipment, my review may be a bit opinionated, but these would be lovely radios but for one major flaw. Something I have come across now on at least 10 of these radios, and why lots are sold on E Bay as faulty. "When these work", they work well. Well.. that is of course.. if you live in a strong signal area. DAB, Digital TV, what can you say other than analogue signals "get through" where Digital reception can be a complete joke. Getting back to these Ecologic 4 radios. The on-off switches fail (that's just one common fault they have). It's not the switch, so don't assume its just a simple replace switch job,... its the "logic" that fails (often a short circuit) in a small surface mount IC. There are ways around it, but its not an easy fix and you might be better off if yours goes to just buy another radio. If you see one that says "won't turn on", you got problems, so avoid it.Read full review

The DAB stage in my home integrated HiFi went wrong, and rather than buy a new HiFi, decided to buy this, mainly because of good reviews, but also because the integrated aerial can be unscrewed, and the rooftop one connected - important where we live. Bought this version rather than the newer blue-tooth enabled version because we don't use blue-tooth! Sound quality is excellent, and the tone controls are a defintely worth having. It connects easily from the 3.5mm jack to the auxillary connection of the HiFi to play through the HiFi speakers - only thing to remember is to turn down the volume on the radio, as, surprisingly, the internal speakers are not disabled doing this. If I could have awarded it more than 5 stars I would have done

I have not tried this radio on batteries yet but I can confirm that it is an excellent mains radio. It tunes to the DAB stations quickly and finds many more than my previous older DAB radio. It is easy to set up and add your favourite stations to the preset buttons. The sound quality is excellent. You can have it at pretty high volume levels without distortion, the sound is crisp and clear with plenty of bass which is controllable via separate treble and bass knobs. The radio's speakers and amplifier are of sufficient quality to easily hear the difference between different bit-rate offerings from the various stations. I have tried it via the line out socket into quite a high end Hi-Fi amplifier with large floor standing speakers. The line output is at a fixed level and is not affected by the bass, treble and volume controls (although the actual radio speakers continue to work and therefore for Hi-Fi listening the radio volume knob should be turned down). I can confirm that the line out sound is really excellent in quality and probably just as good as most dedicated and expensive Hi-Fi DAB tuners).Read full review

This is one of the best radios that I have bought. It's easy to use and has great reception. The sound is excellent. It looks very stylish. I like that it gives you information, especially if there is a song that comes on and you want to know what it is.
