We had been promising ourselves a Roberts Revival radio for over a year but just not got around to it. They have a great reputation for quality and the retro styling appealed to us. I suppose it was the price that caused us to hesitate. Anyway, decision made, we searched for a new one and were presented with a long list in a multitude of colours. Then, in amongst them, we spotted the iStream. It's an upgraded Revival with the addition of internet radio and only about £15 extra. That had to be worth investigating. We looked up several reviews and all of them had nothing but good things to say about it - easy to use - improved sound quality. So, back to ebay to find the best price for an iStream. That's when we had the next decision made for us - the colour. There is only one - black. A few days later we received our iStream and I set about setting it up. It was very easy but, a word of advice. Read the manual first. Some of the buttons have a dual use and knowing that in advance will help. The menu options are clear and intuitive, so later, even if you don't have the manual to hand, you should be able to find your way around. The sound quality is very clear though I can't say if this is an improvement on the standard model because I haven't heard one. It is certainly better than our cheaper DAB radio that it has replaced. However, if you are expecting mind-blowing HiFi, you will be disappointed. This is a portable radio. It just happens to be a very good one. We haven't found anything to dislike about the Robert's iStream and the quality of the build is excellent. However, the first time we looked at the list of internet radio stations it was mind-blowing. A tip - don't bother with the All Stations option. You will struggle to get to "A" in the list. Fortunately you can filter by region, genre etc and, as I'm writing this, we are listening to Flower Power Oldies, a station we didn't know existed a week ago. On the one hand we wish we had bought a Roberts Revival sooner but, on the other, by waiting we got a better model so, no regrets.Read full review
