FOR SALE - SEA RAY 24 SORRENTO SPORTS BOAT WITH 12 HOURS
ON A (NEW) ENGINE AND A LEG (WITH TRANSPORT TRAILER)
Regretfully I'm selling my boat due to simply not having
enough time to use it - only about 12 hours in the last 4 years!! So, it is time for it to go - hopefully to someone who
will have time to enjoy it. If you are looking for affordable, reliable and fun
boat, read on...
The boat is Sea Ray S24 (24" long) Sorrento cuddy
cabin sports boat with literally brand new engine and a leg (installed about 4
years ago, but only with 12 hours on them). The engine is 5.0 litre petrol
inboard Mercruiser with fuel injection, producing 260 BHP (lighter, yet same
power as the original 5.7 Mercruiser engine). The leg is Mercruiser Alpha One.
The batteries were also changed when the engine was changed. I have all the
receipts for the work on the engine and the leg, totalling just under £10,000!.
In my ownership it has been professionally serviced and winterised every autumn
when taken out of the water (again, I have all the receipts). Mechanically, the
boat works as a dream, turn the key and the engine purrs to life. Given the
modern engine, it is also surprisingly economical at cruising speeds.
The boat itself is from 1989 (I was told so by the
previous owner, but I've got nothing to prove this. But, they only made this
model from 1987 to 1989) and has been well looked after, anti-fouled and polished
every spring before going back to water. It also has newish (about 4 years old)
covers, custom made for the boat (few thousand Pounds spent there..), and a
winter /transport cover (ordered specifically for this boat from US) that would need a bit of fixing (few small tears).
The boat is very versatile, and could be used for a
multitude of things, slow cruising on rivers, fast sprints (cruising speed
about 25 knots, max speed over 30 knots) on open water, or as a ski boat (it
has a ski tow ring, and I'll throw in an old pair of water skis if required).
What ever you choose to do, this boat will make it a great fun.
The boat is registered for 8 persons, with the
comfortable spacious cockpit seating for 7. It has a sink with fresh water tab
in the cockpit, and a non-electronic cool box. The cockpit is nice and clean
with plenty of teak trimmings. It also has a swimming platform with a ladder to
ease getting in and out of the water. The cuddy cabin sleeps 2, and there is
space for a portable toilet (I've never got one as simply had no need). To be
honest, the cabin interior could do with a refresh due to its age - it is
perfectly usable and clean, but the age is starting to show on linings and
mattresses (few marks on mattresses etc.). I've never used the boat for
overnight trips, so have "ignored" the cabin interior.
The trailer had its wooden bunks professionally replaced
by rollers 2 years ago to ease launching, at the same time the winch line was
replaced. It is a twin axle trailer that tows and manoeuvres really well.
Whilst not the prettiest of trailers (few dents and scratches), it is solid and
reliable. Please note that the trailer currently has no brakes installed (they
were removed by the previous owner), so strictly speaking it isn't road legal
with the boat on it (due to weight). I'm guessing this could be easily
rectified if required, but due to relative short distances, and a heavy tow car
(Range Rover), it has not been worth my time to do it.
The boat is currently outside our house in Normandy, France (close to town
called Fecamp), with an option for a berth in an open sea marina in Fecamp. So, for viewings you'd need to come across
to Normandy. I can deliver the boat on trailer to South-East UK for free if
required. Other delivery locations possible, but let's discuss first. Obviously,
you could just leave it in Normandy (marina charges are lot lower than in UK, I
pay about 1,500 Euros per annum for a berth).
The reserve is set at a sensible level, but I
will not give it away (I rather keep it and do my few hours or so a year). I've
spend a lot more money on it than I can ever hope to recover. So, with that in
mind, please feel free to contact me for any additional information - my mobile is 07711 182425 (Jarkko). Do your
search, there isn't many affordable boats of this size with new mechanics.
Remember, you are bidding to buy - please do not waste your or my time mocking about. I'd need a PayPal deposit of £200 within 24 hours of auction ending, with the rest to agreed.
