Sharing a Shell
A great resource pack to use with the story ‘Sharing a Shell’ provided on a handy CD for you to print out.
The CD includes:
Banner- a long colourful banner for your display
‘Under the sea’ banner- a long alternative banner to use
Display border- a border for you to print out as many times as you need to use on a display board of any size
Characters- large coloured pictures of the sea creatures in the story- these have been drawn by myself and are not copies from the book
Story words- as set of word cards with words relating to the story- great to add to your display or use on your writing area
Story questions- a set of decorated cards with questions about the story
Title poster- a colourful poster with the title, authors name and illustrators’ name
Information cards- fact cards with pictures about some sea creatures featured in the story
Flash cards- word and picture flash cards
Photos- coloured photos of sea creatures and under the sea scenes
Face masks- a set of coloured masks for retelling the story of ‘Sharing a Shell’ or for making up new stories
Puppets- coloured stick puppets to make
Sequencing pictures- pictures to sequence when retelling the story
Story props- a set of pictures to use when retelling the story
A4 word card- an A4 sized card with words and pictures about the story ‘Sharing a Shell’- great to use when writing
Colourful crab alphabet line- an alphabet line with each coloured crab holding up a letter of the alphabet
Worksheets- various worksheets including speech bubbles, writing and drawing about the favourite part of the story, drawing what happens next, matching the word to picture, writing about the characters and questions about the story
Writing pages- four photocopiable sheets with borders for the children to write about the story or to include in your writing area
Design a book cover- design your own cover for the book
Word searches- two word searches with words and pictures from the story
Sea creature writing sheets- a set of photocopiable writing sheets with space to write inside the outline of different sea creatures
Shell number line- create a long colourful number line for your classroom
Worksheets- fill in the missing number on the starfish, complete the addition and subtraction sums, count the number of sea creatures and cut out and order the numbered shells
Play dough mats- a set of colourful mats to use with play dough for the children to make the correct number of sea creatures on each card
Odd and even number line- a number line to 50 on red and blue starfish
Five little fishes number rhyme- a lovely set for singing this number rhyme with props, number card and masks to make
Five pretty shells number rhyme- with rhyme card, props and masks
Story questions- answer the questions about the story and click on the correct answer
Counting Power point- count the number of objects on each page and click on the correct answer
Sea creatures- learn all about some different sea creatures
Five little fishes- a lovely powerpoint of the number rhyme
Five pretty shells- a powerpoint of the number rhyme
Puppets- colour and make your own puppets for retelling the story
Face masks- colour the face masks
Colouring pictures- various pictures of under the sea scenes to colour
Cut and stick worksheet- cut and colour the sea creatures and add them to the rock pool or use paints to print different sea creatures on the scene
Rock pool worksheet- draw some different things in the rock pool
Crab craft- cut out the pieces of the cute crab and use split pins to make a moving model
Tracing worksheets- a selection of worksheets for the children to trace the dotty lines and then colour
Sea creature outlines- outline pictures of some sea creatures to use in the craft area for children to collage or colour
Matching pairs- match the pictures of different rock pools
Picture bingo- a colourful game to cover the pictures from the story
Jigsaw game- throw a die and collect the numbered part of your sea creature
