Michael Bond was born in 1926 in Newbury, Berkshire, England as Thomas Michael Bond. He is known for his work on The Adventures of Paddington Bear, The Herbs (1968) and The Adventures of Parsley (1970).
He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 1997 for his services to children's literature.
He wrote his first Paddington Bear book in 1958 while working as a BBC cameraman on programmes such as the children's magazine programme Blue Peter, until the popularity of his Paddington books allowed him to give up this job and devote himself full-time to writing.
In July 2007, he was given an honorary DLitt (Doctor of Letters) degree from Reading University in recognition of his contribution to literature and the enjoyment he has given many readers. He has connections with Reading and Berkshire, having been born nearby in Newbury.

I shall leave the images to complete my description and welcome all questions.

All that remains is to thank you for your interest and invite you to take a peek at my other items which include more signed FDCs.
