Horseshoe Knee Gaskets
Brand new, pair of Smith knee pads/gaskets/supports in size extra large for snowboarding, Roller Derby, skiing, skateboarding, mountainboarding, roller skating, inline skating, BMX, ice skating, martial arts, dance, snakeboarding...anything where falling is likely! They are also used by roofers, carpet fitters, DIY enthusiasts and for many other jobs where you may find yourself kneeling for prolonged periods.
These are made of 3mm thick neoprene so fit quite snuggly and are slim enough to fit under most jeans and pretty much all snowboarding pants. The front "horseshoe" padded area is thicker neoprene about 12mm thick to keep your knee cap safe!
They also insulate really well, thanks to the closed cell foam, meaning you can kneel in the snow (for a rest!) quite comfortably, without your joints seizing up!
They were designed to go under skateboard knee pads for extra padding but work really well on their own where support rather than impact prevention is the priority. There are two strips of velco on the front of the gaskets designed to "grab" onto knee pads and stop them slipping down. If wearing them on their own it is advised to cover the velco to stop them grapping the inside of your jeans, snowboard pants, etc. which could eventually cause damage. I've had a pair for over ten years and wouldn't snowboard without them especially now I'm getting on a bit. I simply cut the correct length of "eye" velco and used that to cover the "hook" side on the pads...you can buy velcro for a few pence from any haberdashery store.
