A great blue-ray player for the money once you upgrade the firmware. When I first received the player it would not play any current blue-ray disc. It would play standard disc quite well. After contacting Sony they sent me a up-date disc free of charge. Took about 20 minutes to run the up-grade. Once done the unit worked flawless. I've read some other reviews about the length of time it takes to load the disc. The new firmware seems to have sped the loading time up. The picture is superb and the 7.1 sound running through my Harman Karden receiver is excellent. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a Blue-Ray player at a great price, who understands you are not going to be able to use it right out of the box.
I never do this so just want you to know how happy my wife and I are with the Blu Ray Player. Came with hookup cable, remote control and even batteries in the remote control. Plays well! Don’t need a 3D or 4D player right now! My wife and I just bout a 55” Visio TV and this is the perfect compliment to it!

As stated in the title, this is my first Blu-Ray player. I went with the Sony brand due to reputation and because it seemed to integrate well with my Sony TV. Overall I think it is a real sharp looking unit that really delivers on what it says it can do. Being a bit old school as I am, I have not really had the opportunity to exercise all the functions/features available on this machine, but am sure I will be satisfied when/if I ever have the opportunity to do so. The only downside to this unit I have noticed is that it seems to take a bit longer to power up and get ready to go when you first turn it on. This could be inherent to all Blu-Ray players, but as stated before this is my first one so was/is very noticeable to me. That being said, it is only a minor inconvenience and not really that big a deal in the whole scheme of things.Read full review
The only thing that was a little confusing was when you first turn it on,it automatically changes your tv input to HDMI-1 by itself so just make sure you plug it into the number 1 HDMI port on your tv

I bought this product to give to my parents as a gift since I had a newer model the BDP-S350, well I ended up keeping this model and giving them the newer one instead. Since I could care less about BD-Live (what a stupid thing that is, mostly good to watch trailers & it takes forever to load!). The only thing this player can't do is upgrade itself thru the internet, but I upgraded to the last firmware version using Sony's web site and following the easy guide to do so, now it even loads faster than the 350 with it's latest firmware version installed, one can see why this player used to sell for $500.00, for starters: all the connectors are gold plated, it plays MP3 recorded on DVD and has a mush more solid built to it than the newer lower cost unit, it's a bit longer (Deeper) but that's not really an issue since it will fit perfectly on any rack system, & for the price it can be found here on ebay it's an absolute steal.Read full review
