ABSOLUTELY STUNNING EDWARDIAN 1900 - 1908, Cream Silk Wedding or Evening Gown Skirt which has been removed from the original gown - for restoration or re use.
This is a large wide skirt there is alot of exquisite embroidered textile here.
To restore, it will obviously need to have a new bodice, the skirt itself is in strong restorable condition with beautiful trims and lace and at the back rows of silk crepe ruffles. This must been a very special and very expensive gown and it has been treasured by the family ever since. I also have for sale this week the ladies Mantle which also belonged to the same lady.
It is a heavy silky slipper satin with a soft sheen. The rows of ruffles at the back are silk crepe, The sides and front have panels of creamy lace studded with paste stones throughout. The swirling and twining trims down the length of the skirt are made up of silver wirework embroidery, glass beads, pearls and paste stones. There are 2 holes in back skirt in the exact same place one each side. I am guessing this is where something was originally attached at the back of the dress, perhaps a train or second panel or embellishment.
This is a fabulous piece of embroidered textile in its own right and ready for some many re uses, projects or restoration into a fabulous gown.
It is heavy and I will post signed for in all cases. My postage costs do not allow for any local taxes or import duties, these are the responsibility of the buyer. I recommend that you check this out locally before bidding to be sure of costs.
Thank you for looking at my auction.
