This is a superb Dansette Record Player "The Conquest Mk 2" from 1968 this was Dansettes upgrade of the famous conquest to bring it up to date with the late 60s! Having a late 60s space age look with chrome controls & a chrome control panel there is a red pilot light that comes on when the player is switched on, the chrome does have specs of rust but isnt too bad (see pictures), the lid was in an awful state so has been recovered in a blue to offset the blue round the controls. It was the Dansette that brought music to the nations teenagers quality record players having decent amplifiers with great volume this "Conquest" truly sums up a great age of music of the late 1960s perfectly! This "Conquest Mk 2 " has been stripped & cleaned inside & out, the colours are not faded but are once again bright & vibrant, its not mint but after 44 years its in nice condition! the latches & hinges are not rusty but are mostly clean with hardly any marks! the turntable matt is original & is perfectly still rubber! the turntable is very clean & does not look 43 years old! The twin valve amplifier is original, for safety a insulated earthed mains cable is fitted, a 3amp correct fuse is fitted to the plug, The Acos cartridge is perfect with a great output & this is Mono/Stereo compatible so records of any age can be played! a new twin Lp/45 stylus is fitted with 78rpm on the other side, The turntable has been lubricated & works as it should on ALL speeds, at some point in the past a prevoius owner has removed the autochange facility so now its a single play machine for lps & 45s & 78s the arm lifts off at the end of a record & can be rejected automatically its just that you cant stack records but at least there is no autochanger to go wrong! there is no crackle from the volume & tone or bass controls that are fully responsive a real bonus is that like it the earlier version the Conquest Mk 2 it has a Bass control! This is a great chance to own a iconic late 1960s Dansette, the "Conquest Mk2 " is a very stylish player , I have not fully restored the amplifier so its as it was in 1968 , it works very well but perhaps does not sound quite as good as it would with a amp service but it has plenty of volume! I simply have too many players to fully restore at the moment ! it would make a fantastic center peice in any room, it should also prove to be a sound investment. The player will be well packed for delivery or it can be picked up if prefered I have sold many vintage record players with 100% positive feedback so bid with confidence. Many thanks for looking.. |
