I like them. I much prefer mechanical scales to digital - the dial is large and clear, and any variations in the floor surface do not cause the scales too much trouble. Digital scales do not usually like being picked up and moved around, but these are OK and the correction back to "0" is easy should the adjustment dial be moved accidentally. The are quite large, and quite heavy in comparison to many digital scales, but this also means they are sturdy. The rubberised platform is good too - no losing your balance on slippery glass. If you have the space, and do not want all the other digital details you can get, (heart rate, body mass etc) then these are an excellent buy.

I bought these scales because my digital scales had a funny 5 minutes. In comparison these scales are a not accurate. They can approximate to about a quarter of a stone. Not easy to read, certainly not able to read to the nearest pound. They are not as accurate as doctor scales I have come across. The digital scales are infinitely superior. Don't waste your money

These scales are solid and dependable. They might not be accurate to the last gram or ounce, but they work on all surfaces, they don’t run out of batteries, you don’t have to choose between Stones and Kg, and you don’t have to nudge them to life like a sleeping Labrador! They are easy to use and easy to read, they work, which is probably why the design hasn’t changed much in 50 odd years. They are made to last and will last you a lifetime. Which is unusual and worth noticing and celebrating in today’s throwaway society.

Great scales, my parents had a pair for years, but the scale was made of paper and over the years it has discoloured and the needle was catching on the paper. These are a lot better as it is a metal dial. The old ones where half a stone out, so that is why I purchased new ones. I hate the digital type.
