![]() ![]() On 07-Jul-12 at 09:27:42 BST, seller added the following information: Since this camera was listed I have received a couple of emails from eBay members concerned about the accuracy of the information in the listing. I have shown their comments in full below, together with my responses. For the avoidance of doubt I felt it only correct that these concerns be highlighted as I don't want to give potential bidders and the eventual new owner of this camera that I tried to mislead anyone after the auctions ends. Frankly I am totally confused by the entire scenario and as I always state in my Terms & Conditions (see listing) - "DESCRIPTION OF ITEMS I make every effort to be as accurate as possible in both dating and the description of the item upon the information to hand at the time. If I am unsure as to the exact date I will always refer to the date as 'circa' or c.1800 for example. It is assumed that bidders will be sufficiently knowledgeable about their specialist field to appreciate the authenticity of an item, its origin, date and potential value when bidding and as such feel I cannot accept responsibility for possible discrepancies in dating or any other information that may arise after the auction is completed unless it is clearly my mistake." 1. FROM AN EBAY MEMBER Its a medium format camera, 120 film. (I told you this because Im a seller too and you will earn more money) because only few people use large format cameras. MY RESPONSE. Thank you for your message however my sopurce of information is http://www.butkus.org/chinon/russian/zenith_80/zenith_80.htmI am now confused!! RESPONSE FROM SAME EBAY MEMBER This kind of cameras have different parts: The body (where the speed is), the lenses (aperture) and the back, where you put the film. This camera Uses 120 roll films that its MEDIUM FORMAT (135 or usually called 35mm its normal films that old cameras use). I have a Large format camera and they use 4x5 or bigger (its like a paper or film instead a roll).Trust me, Im selling the same camera kit!If you put medium format camera in Ebay you will find a lot of bronica, some Zenith and expensive Hasselblad.I know that the web says large format, but maybe its a bad translation or only for selling it. 2. FROM ANOTHER EBAY MEMBER Greetings, Thank you for the general information about the Salyut cameras but more information about this specific specimen is needed. ---You post that a Vitoflex 80 mm f/2.8 lens from 1968 is attached but the picture shows a more common Industar-29 lens from 1973?????? ---Straight on photo of red wind knob so customer can read text??????? ---Straight on photo of rear of camera so customer can read serial number and see condition of shutter curtain. ---Most important of all does shutter wind properly and fire properly. For this test you do not need film. Remove the back and test the shutter wind and release at maybe one or two speeds. With back removed you are testing the shutter and the back is not impeding the test should the back itself be faulty. MY RESPONSE. Hello Thank you for your message. I wish to make it clear, as stated right at the top of the listing, I do not own this item, I sell items on eBay on behalf of other people and am only guided by the information given to me by the client at the time they bring the item into my shop. Equally I was also influenced by the information in the website link shown in the listing which also indicates that the lens supplied with the camera is a Vitolflex so apologies if it is not the one as indicated in the listing text. As there are already bids on the item I cannot now change the item text but will post this reply to the listing by way of an erratum. I am not an expert in this field, clearly you are, and once I can obtain access to the camera once more in the next few days I will forward the images you request, I will also undertake the test you suggest, but I would respectfully refer you to the disclaimer regarding its functionality andf the fact that this is a strictly 'SOLD AS SEEN' auction. If you are seeking a fully opoerational, pristine example then maybe this one isn't for you. Nevertheless please send me your email address so that I can forward the images you require when I am able to take them. I hope this helps anyone who is intending to bid or current bidders. Please email if anyone has any further concerns |
