I purchased this item as I was fed up with buying AA batterys for my Vivitar camera, this takes many more photo's before the battery needs recharging and does not cost a small fortune in batterys. I have not used this item many times on distance or evening photo's as I have mainly used it for close ups of items to sell on ebay and therefore can not comment on the quality of pictures for these, but of the photo's I have taken they are of good quality. However I have found it difficult to take close up pictures as I have found the light background places a glare on the photo. This may have something to do with my lack of knowledge in taking photo's. This camera is slimline, compact and nice looking. Overall I am very happy.
This is a seriously good camera for a budget price. It has more than enough features for an amateur photographer including flash, anti red eye, good zoom lens and a wealth of shooting modes. A really important feature is the rechargeable battery avoiding the need to change double A's every couple of weeks! Samsung have delivered a slim, light and simple to use camera which is perfect for snapping away yet not too expensive to break the bank. Make sure you get a carry case for protection and at least a 4gb SD card to store all your pics. In summary this camera is a bargain if bought for around £30-50. Don't pay any more. You will not be disappointed.
i am a complete novice with cameras. The short time i have had this camera, i've found it, so far, easy to use. Lovely little camera and would recommend it
I used to own a Nokia N95 mobile phone. When my upgrade came around i opted for something different and got a Samsung Tocco. Fabulous phone but a very disappointing camera so i decided to shop around for a digital camera. When i came across the Samsung P1000 and checked one or two online reviews and retail prices i snapped it up immediately. For the occasional photograph up to the amateur photographer this is an excellent all round multi purpose camera. It takes fantastic pictures with a variety of scene settings to suit the surrounding light and environment. It will also take video footage with sound and a choice of 3 frame rates allowing for excellent quality if you have the memory to back it up. You also get a TV out cable in the box so you can show your pics and videos on a TV. The camera also features macro settings for very close up fine detail pics and a quick selection dial to switch between generic automatic settings and a variety of other options that allow the user to tweek pretty much everything from ISO to face detection, image stabilising etc. This camera is very multifunctional and comes in a small package with a metal body providing good durability and that feeling that you've purchased a quality product. It also comes with a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery and mains/USB charger with around 2 hours standard battery life meaning no more endlessly changing batteries and not being able to take the pics you want. I am immensely happy with this camera and with a number of them being sold on ebay for around £60 when they retail brand new at £160 you cannot find a better deal.Read full review
I bought this on Ebay for about £40 as a factory refurbished unit. It came to me completely unmarked and shiny, in the box, and with all the necessary cables, manual etc. If I hadn't been told it was a "refurb" I would not have known it was not brand new. The only things not bundled with it were a camera case and SD card, but it does have a small internal memory. Cases are cheap as chips and SD cards are available for very little money on Ebay. I bought 2 1GB Sandisk cards on Ebay for under £6 delivered, so not really an issue. The build quality is very good and the camera feels strong and robust, unlike some of the others I looked at which even when more expensive felt "plasticky" and cheaply made - some of them rattled a bit even when new whereas this is absolutely tight and solid despite being a refurbished unit. It comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery which on mine is more than adequate for everyday use such as a day at the beach or whatever. It has an excellent and easy to operate user interface, and the navigation is quite "intuitive" requiring very little familiarisation to use it for everyday purposes. The screen is crystal clear and bright enough to use in bright sunlight which is a big step forward on my last camera. My 10 year old had no trouble with the basic functions, and to be honest a lot of the more esoteric functions on this and on more expensive units will never be used by most people once they've stopped "playing" with their new toy fresh out of the box. There are definitely more sophisticated cameras on the market with more functions, but if you want something a stoned chimp could operate and which produces very good quality photos (and video come to that) then this should be on your list to look at in more detail, along with the Fuji compacts which are very similar and also well built. Both cameras offer excellent support online for any queries/issues you may have and for replacement parts such as batteries which will eventually wear out, and will do so quickly if not treated in accordance with the instructions about charging that come with the camera. Batteries can be expensive to replace so this is worth bearing in mind and it may be worth considering a camera like the Fuji Coolpix range some of which take standard or rechargeable AAA batteries. Overall, A very good buy for the money. From my experience I would recommend it.Read full review
