How these absorbers work:
The white calcium
chloride moisture absorber crystals supplied with our granular Moisture
Absorbers absorb excess moisture in the air, helping to bring humidity to an
ideal and safe level (ideally about 50 percent humidity). Without excess
moisture in the room or area, mold and mildew growth will be
chloride, is a type of salt product. Because of its properties, as it begins to
absorb moisture it begins to swell thus binding the crystals together. The salt
is acting like a sponge pulling the water from the air and trapping it in the
upper portion of the absorber. As the moisture absorber crystals solidify and
have absorbed as much moisture as possible, they will begin releasing the water
to the lower chamber of the Moisture
The absorption of excess moisture and the solidification
of the crystals depend on the amount of relative humidity that is present in the
area. Mildew and mold require moisture to grow. The optimal range for growth is
70-90% relative humidity. When the relative humidity is below 62% mold does not
Absorber Granules are produced not to dry the air to a level that damages
the environment (plants etc.). Once the relative humidity drops below 60%, the
calcium chloride crystals slow down or stop working and will restart again when
necessary. The product works when it should and not when it does not have
Allow all the white crystals to dissolve before you add more, or else
you may alter the absorption process.
Attention: Check the unit twice a month - the granules will first become solid (and may discolour) as the trap begins to work.
When the granules are completely dissolved, empty the contents down the drain (take care not to spill any 'trapped' moisture because it may stain).
Re-fill the tray with new Moisture Absorber Refill Granules and leave the Streamline Moisture Absorber to do its job. Carefully rinse the sink.
Tip: Spilt liquid may stain. If this is the case, clean the stain immediately with lots of water and dab carefully. Repeat if necessary.
Any stains can be removed with sodium sulphate (available from a chemist). Make a 5% solution in water (50 grams per litre) and sprinkle it on the stain.
Leave to work for around 30 minutes. Then allow the water to evaporate with a hair dryer or electric heater. Vacuum any remaining powder.
Avoid contact with leather and metal because these materials can be affected.
