'Shoulder to Shoulder' Artwork Piece Following the success of our first ‘legoman’ auction, we are pleased to now be able to offer additional pieces. We currently have two single pieces and two pairs of ‘legomen’ available. This auction is for one single ‘legoman’. Please view our other listings if you’re interested in bidding on a pair. A single 'Legoman' figure, formerly part of a Public Art piece in Haymarket, Newcastle upon Tyne, as designed by urban artist Ray Smith, known as 'Shoulder to Shoulder'. Constructed from concrete with pebble-dash effect overlay and stainless steel rods, the artwork was originally designed as a barrier and water feature between the road and pedestrian space around the South African War Memorial. The stylised concrete figures were installed in 2000 and removed in 2009 as part of the refurbishment of the area. Each piece weighs around 500kgs and stands 1.85m tall and 1m wide, with a maximum depth of 0.235m. Unfortunately there are no lengths of stainless steel water fountain parts available for inclusion in this auction. The 'legomen' have not been cleaned since their removal from the Haymarket - they have been stored outside for some time and have been open to the elements, but they are currently covered with tarpaulin. Proceeds from the sale will go towards the 'Newcastle Fund', a fund created in April 2011 which provides longer term grant funding to voluntary and community groups and organisations working in Newcastle to help communities sustain their work over the years ahead. Delivery of the piece within a 10 mile radius of Newcastle City Centre is £83.50 + VAT. Collection and delivery beyond this distance will be the purchaser's responsibility and there will be no charge for this option. We can give assistance here in Newcastle should the purchaser be collecting the piece. The purchaser must advise us of the delivery location, or provide details of collection method (and whether assistance is needed), within 7 days of the auction end. Payment must be made by either PayPal, bank draft or cash, either in advance of delivery or upon collection. The purchaser must advise us of their chosen payment method within 7 days of the auction end. Please note that this auction is for one 'legoman' only. Please contact us using the contact seller option above if you have any questions about the artwork piece. Happy bidding for an unusual and substantial piece of urban art. |
