For auction: ONE unique limited run t-shirt signed by 7 fantastic Nerdcore performers from Steal This Gig
On the evening of Saturday 15th September London saw a collaboration between Scrub Club Records and the Pirate Party UK with the event titled Steal This Gig. This was an evening with an awesome mix of Nerdcore stars, some of whom were playing for the first time outside of the US.
Scrub Club Records is a not for profit, open source and totally pro-artist label. The Pirate Party UK is a political party that campaigns for (amongst other things) copyright reform.
The performing artists were: B-Type, Madhatter, MCWreckshin, Milk+Plus, Superpowerless, and TooManyTs.
As you can see this was a vibrant and energetic evening from the performers, and the listening participators had to put in quite a bit of effort too. A whole range of other pictures from the gig can be found on facebook.
There was no entry fee, listeners paid whatever they wanted to! Kind of like Bandcamp.com - We're all pirates, so people paid what they thought the lineup was worth either by buying drinks for the performers, donating money, or buying merchandise. Money raised from donations went to the Pirate Party UK. The proceeds from this auction will also be donated to the Pirate Party UK.
This auction is for one limited edition Pirate Party UK 2012 conference t-shirt that has been signed by all 7 performing artists (Too Many Ts come as a two-some). Only 20 of these custom t-shirts have ever been printed, and only 4 have been signed by these artists.
This t-shirt is white and 100% cotton in XL size. Inspired by events in London this Summer the front features a twist on a recognisable design with 5 interlocking P-flag rings. This is a 6-colour (teal, orange, black, green, purple, white) overlapping complex design printed at the highest manufacturing quality. The rear of the t-shirt contains the Pirate Party UK 2012 conference hashtag - #PPUK12 printed in black.
The following slideshow shows one original image (svg exported to png) of the 5 interlocking P-flags which was used as the guide for printing the t-shirts. All other images are taken from the signed t-shirts. There is minor variation in each signed t-shirt, making each a unique collectors item.
The back of this t-shirt contains the autographs of B-Type, Madhatter, MCWreckshin, Milk+Plus, Superpowerless, and TooManyTs. These autographs were obtained during the Steal This Gig event either just before or just after the artists performed. In some cases I had to drag the exhausted artists to my table and demand they suffer under the yoke of corporate exploitation!
These have been signed using a black permanent fabric pen - i.e. a pen designed for using on fabric and not coming out once it dries! This requires that the shirt be left to dry or the ink dried in place by gentle ironing. These t-shirts have been carefully left to dry for over 48 hours and have not been ironed.
Due to the use of fabric pen, the t-shirt is not just a collectors item for display purposes but can be worn and washed. The ink is designed not to run or fade with washing.
It is advised that upon receipt of this t-shirt that an iron on a low heat is run carefully over the signatures to give you the confidence that they will remain fixed. In addition, prior to washing you could apply a small amount of water to part of one signature to make sure there is no leakage.
Upon request by a successful bidder I am prepared to mark a small area of the inside lower hem of the shirt with the same fabric pen and iron dry it (or delay postage by a day to allow it to dry alone). Upon receipt of the item you may then apply water to this area to gain confidence that the signatures will not run upon washing.
It is worth noting, of course, that repeated wearing and washing can cause regular wear and tear on this garment which may degrade any collector's value in the autographs. As such it is advised that this is worn sparingly. Short of that, wear it to Nerdcore gigs and make your fellow listening participators green with envy.
This auction is for one new unworn t-shirt (the image to the left/above is not of the item up for auction, but shows one of the other t-shirts being lovingly enjoyed). This auction lists the condition as new. This is a new t-shirt, but it is not in sealed packaging - it would have been difficult to get signed if it was. Post-signing it has been stored carefully. I am also happy to note that this has been stored in a pet-free and smoke-free home.
I am offering both domestic and international shipping - with the latter please understand that delivery times may be significantly slower than domestic shipping.
If you have any questions please do ask, I will endeavour to answer them speedily.
Happy bidding and good luck!
