Sommerso Ribbons Vase
A sommerso vase in an excellent condition.
This stunning piece of glass is maker unknown, but most likely Italian given its skill of manipulation. As you can see there are seven ribbons of coloured sommerso, all encased within a crystal clear surround, they are close together at the top of vase, and as they move towards the base they expand into individual streams which then cross over on the base and continue up the other side till they reach the rim.
I have provided several pictures which shows different views, one looking through the base, which shows how beautifully it has been done. The colours vary, but a dark pink, amber and dark red are the main. The vase has an elongated oval shape, moving down to an oval bulb shape, standing on a oval polished flat base.
The vase is in superb condition, no chips or cracks, a tiny piece of water staining in the bottom and wear on base, one tiny nick, otherwise perfect.
Measures 21.2cm tall with 3cm x2.2 rim diameter, body is 7.8cm x 3.8cm, on a 5.2cm x 3.3cm base, weight is 0.562kg unpacked.
