This is camera that offers a lot very well built and features such as a cable release and the controls that fall into the hand and ease of use for and for someone who has been using cameras since 1963 where we composed our pictures with out a zoom lens, I find this is adequate for my type photography. Having tried the A6000 and found the build quality poor, for the extra money this offers such a lot and working in industries using microscopes found the Zeiss lens offered quality and having had Sony cyber shot with a Carl Zeiss lens found the lens offered really good definition. I think in my days when i did all my own processing and enlarging of prints one of my old cameras gave me superb definition in black and white using the zeiss lens. My only disappointments are no manual viewfinder and I had to purchase the electronic viewfinder which with a camera of the price you would be foolish not to purchase one. The battery soon discharges and to to use the socket on the camera to charge the battery in the camera is a poor design especially given the size of this, for camera of this price Sony should have supplied two batteries and an external charger.Read full review
If your looking at buying this camera you will more than likely know all about it already but if not here are a few key points.... This is a tiny 'Full Frame' camera, it has a fixed 35mm Zeiss lens, you have full manual control, image quality as good as anything else out there.... It is fixed lens and this will not suit everyone, do make sure 35mm is what you are happy to shoot with, some people prefer 28mm or 50mm and think 35mm is a bit in the middle and neither one thing or the other but if you are happy at this focal length you cannot go wrong. Great manual control bags of dynamic range and good high ISO. Whats not to like? No lens hood inc, accessories are expensive, no charger included (charging through camera).
It is cheaper nowadays. Stunning capability with just one caveat. You are going to need the EVF accessory. Not a chance of focussing this manually and accurately without it. At f2, 35mm full-frame, there is no margin for error. Zeiss lens is as sharp as I have come to expect. I have used a lot of cameras (film and digital) and this would even give a MF Rolleiflex a run for its money.
