This receiver has loads of different settings so you can get the exact sound you’re looking for. It will amplify two front speakers, two rear speakers and a center speaker, and it does about 50Wrms. The subwoofer signal is given via a pre-out, which is VERY handy if you wish to use a larger power amplifier alongside the receiver for high powered subwoofers. Its very easy to use and has great sound and packs a great punch; watching action movies with the appropriate speakers is an amazing cinema-audio experience! PROS: - Multiple modes; 2-channel stereo, AFD (auto, dolby prologic, prologic movie, prologic music), Movie (A or B), Music (hall, jazz, concert) - FM tuner has very good reception, picks up a huge range of channels very clearly, and decodes them into 5.1, mono or stereo - Fine tuning; individual speaker levels, small/large option for each speaker, high/low set rears, speaker distance settings, center speaker on/off - Good selection of input modes, including optical digital - Solid, well built feel - Versatile remote control CONS: - Unit gets very warm when used for a length of time (large heatsink inside though) - subwoofer crossover frequency not adjustable (though set nice and low, not a hint of vocal) - Could do with more than one digital input Overall, i would highly recommend this 5.1 receiver to anyone looking for a home cinema experience to remember. NOTE: You will need a separate amplifier for the subwoofer channel. you should wire from the 'subwoofer out' on the unit, to your second amplifier which the sub is connected to. Main speakers all receive full range signals. Tone can be adjusted for bass enhancement / reduction.Read full review
