Who are we?
soccerbid is part of the P & R Sports Entertainment group. We have been in business for 30 years and our company is predominately a sports and entertainment agency. Our first sports client was Bobby Moore who through illness did not do too much however he introduced us to Sir Geoff Hurst who we acted for since 1995 up to Jan 2011. Through the amount of work that Sir Geoff was getting a number of his own contemporizes made contact with us in order for us to represent them and create commercial income for them. In the latter 90s we were able to give examples to numerous sporting clients of where they were missing out on the opportunity of commercial income from the sale of their autograph. We started predominately dealing with the sale of 1966 player’s autographs, which we then expanded from there on. We came to the rescue on behalf of Wembley concerning the selling off of Wembley seats and turf, which was really the launch of the soccerbid part of the company. All the autographs and memorabilia that we sell were either obtained by us personally from the “name” or obtained from members of the family if the person is deceased or through dealing with the agent or representative for the name concerned. In some cases we may deal with a promoter who has organized a signing with the name.
We have affiliations with many sports management agents and quite often we are the cog in introducing a former sports person or celebrity to a potential promoter who wishes to organize a signing session. We have been involved with the selling of many pieces of original memorabilia from our numerous clients which includes World cup winner’s medals, championship medals, FA cup medals, International caps and worn shirts. In the 1990s we were encouraged by people within the game of football to obtain our football license in order to buy and sell players and at the time our principle David Davies was the youngest licensed full Fifa football agent in the world. David decided that after a few years negotiation with the modern day players and clubs there was more loyalty and enjoyment working with the retired players and expanded this division of the company. Our associate company TOBN.co.uk The Old Boys Network regularly supplies either other agents or end clients with former sports people. This has included numerous TV adverts, regular media spots within newspapers, appearances on TV programmes and paid for appearances and endorsements or products. We obtained our UACC dealership status in 2007. We had meetings with a few “major” memorabilia companies in order to put together an organization to try and clean up the memorabilia industry this was the original start of AFTAL and we were happy to be one of the consultants dealing with the set up of AFTAL organization. David our boss was happy to just make up the numbers on the board however through default and various occurrences now is the chairman of AFTAL. As figurehead for the AFTAL organization his role is to mediate with the board & AFTAL dealers and try to ensure the buying public only buy memorabilia from the 100 AFTAL dealers spread across Europe
Why are we so late setting up an eBay shop?
The reason for doing this was for a number of years we disagreed with a lot of the items that were allegedly signed by our own clients were being sold online. We feel now with various organizations including UACC and AFTAL trying to clean up the online business EBay is a safer place to do business. We are also looking at other areas of the memorabilia business apart from sport. We have a lot of stock that has been sitting in our warehouse for a number of years and it was time to start selling some. The world wide shop window of EBay will bring us far more window shoppers than our own soccerbid shop however we do encourage you to have a look at soccerbid. We will be adding to our eBay shop from our own soccerbid stock on a fairly regular basis and we look forward to doing business with you.
Why should you deal with us?
Can all our competition offer the same assurances and 30 year back up as us?
When we look at our competition a lot are running their business from a laptop at no fixed address which is fine however as a customer you want assurance that you are dealing with a “proper company” We have purpose built offices, a company registration no, a vat no, we file accounts. As memorabilia is a small part of our turnover reputation takes years to build up and can be lost overnight why do we need to risk that for the sake of a piece of “wrong” memorabilia?
We very much look forward to dealing with you.
