** Stunning Welsh Dresser hand painted in Farrow & Ball - Skimming Stone**
Welcome to my auction for this beautiful Welsh Dresser, to which I gave 2 coats of white primer then 3 coats of Estate Eggshell Farrow & Ball in shade Skimming Stone, which looks great in any setting and suits every decor, a very elegant off white shade.
The dresser's solid wood top has been sanded back revealing a wonderful rustic and natural grain. This I buffed with 3 coats of Colron Danish Oil in Jacobean Dark Oak, to enhance, protect and nurture for everyday use. This also really highlights the fantastic wood grain.
I have then finished with some distressing to the paint for the ever popular 'Shabby Chic' style.
It was then given an extra good coating of clear wax all over to protect the whole piece against more bumps and knocks.
Made from solid oak, this has 2 drawers and 2 doors, plus two small glazed and leaded doors to the top of the dresser.
This dresser benefits from gorgeous detailed carvings on the drawers and door fronts, which very much need to be seen to be appreciated. The carved rose design on the door fronts is very different and appealing. The top of the dresser also has the tudor rose carvings often seen on Old Charm pieces.
The drawers are solid and well-made with dovetail joints and have been lined with some pretty lining paper which is removable.
All the handles and hinges are original, in perfect working order and contrast beautifully against the cream.
This dresser has ample enough storage with a running shelf inside for hiding all your everyday bits and bobs.
This has 2 shelves, each with plate grooves running along to display your lovely crockery etc, plus a further groove along the bottom. The 2 glass cabinets also have plate grooves inside.
This is certainly a very attractive and distinctive dresser, and very well-crafted too.
Detaches into 2 parts for easy transportation, and looks great when just used as a sideboard so can also be used seperately.

I have been refurbishing furniture for some time now, and I always endeavor to make sure all my items are of the highest standard as is possible with preloved items. If they're not, I will fix, sand, nail and mend until they are suitable for purpose. I spend a lot of time preparing, so that the finished article is as perfect as can be. I always remove all fittings (handles, hinges etc), whenever possible, and mask areas for a clean finish. If I cannot repair, I will always describe any obvious flaws with as much accuracy as I can. Of course, there may well be a few tiny drips and brushmarks as I do paint every item by hand, no spray paints are used here!
I try to use the original fixings, but if this is not possible, I will source good quality replacements.
I love vintage furniture, and try to keep all of the old charm and originality of each piece whilst making sure it is brought up to date to fit with all types of homes, whether it is a small country house, traditional, large farmhouse, quaint french shabby or a modern semi :) The light neutral shades bring new life to old furniture, and will brighten up any corner of your home.
As we all know, preloved items are not always perfect though, and any dings and dents add to the charm, and some are even intentional for the 'shabby chic' look.
I like to use Farrow & Ball Estate Eggshell as I find it gives a very smooth and professional finish, and of course it has a wonderful range of subtle colours to choose from, but have recently moved onto the acclaimed Annie Sloan also, to give my items a varied feel and to appeal to everyone's taste, I love them both!
Here at The Little Shop of Vintage, we take pride in our work, and above all, we love what we do.
