Hello and thanks for having a look at my auction. Here I have for sale my well loved caravan. This is the much sought after, rare and slightly retro Swift Challenger 440/4E 4 berth caravan, its about a 91/92 model.

This caravan is literally ready to take away, just add your crockery, bits and bobs, bedding etc and your off. As I write this I'm sat in the van enjoying the last couple of days of an excellent 2 weeks in Devon. I've done a lot of preventative work and made quite a few improvements, so no nasty suprises. Additionally this advert is pretty pic heavy so if thats a problem, apologies.

Additional pictures listed at the end of the advertisement.

I purchased this caravan a couple of seasons ago, selection was made after much searching for a bone dry specimen. The only reason this has come on the market (much improved) again is because a family member has made me an offer on a new van I simply cannot refuse.

Length 15 foot, 17 foot including A Frame.

4 Berth, large double bed at the front, smaller double bed at the rear. Both very comfy, i've always used them with mattress toppers so we've never actually slept on the beds themselves. Central kitchen area, all items work well, end corner toilet, with porta potti, hot and cold water and sink. We only use the bathroom for storing our bathing items etc using the caravan sites facilities.

Loads of high level and low level storage, including a decent sized wardrobe.

After I got it home the caravan was subject to a comprehensive overhall.  Jobs done (that i remember) are listed below.

Seals. Whilst the caravan was dry and had no signs of ever having any damp issues I was not confident that it would not remain water tight for another season and as such all the seams were properly removed cleaned and re-sealed. Please note you will not find any silcone on this caravan, all the seals have been re-newed using qaulity caravan sealant of the same type used in the original manufacture - theoretically the seals (with proper care) should do another 20 years or so. Going back to the silicone thing, I didnt use it, because it doesnt work for any reasonable length of time and it has always been my intention to keep this caravan for a good few years.

Wheels. Brand new caravan tyres, not the old nasty mismatched car tyres that came with the van, the ones on now have less then a thousand miles on them and are only about 18 months old and are proper high pressure caravan tyres. (Please note the spare has not been replaced, but there is a spare that will, in the event of a puncture get you home)

Upholstery and carpets were valeted and in now in fantastic clean fresh condition, with no rips, burns on nasty smells. All cushions except one are in place the missing one has been replaced with one of approximate size, its only a little one on the rear bed and not noticable.

External arial point added, so no having to drag the wires through the van or open windows. Just add your arial and tv and your off.

Fridge replaced with a 240v (not three way), miles better then the tired old original. This has been secured in the van in the original space for the fridge, so no movement in transit.

Front locker, floor replaced and refitted.

Carver water heater, previous owner left water in over one winter this then froze and broke the unit, this has been repaired and works as it should. Obviously during my ownership the water system has been drained over winter and regularly cleaned and sterilised properly.

Carver central heating checked and cleaned on purchase, works fine although i've never used it in anger. I always use sites with hookup so use an electric heater if required. No point using my gas!

Leisure Battery, previous owner had a car battery in.....yes a car battery! Its now got a new 100ah Lumax Leisure unit. This can be charged off the car or the mains, and the battery condition indicator show the condition as good.

Volt meter and water pump cut off added, the van has hot and cold running water, the taps are on micro switches and I was concerned that you couldnt isolate the pump or view the condition of the battery so I had this item added. The caravan allreadt has a zig unit and charger.

Brand new Crystal water pump, very strong, the old one burnt out after the previous owner 'fixed' the wiring. Water system thoroughly cleaned out.

External Electric point, had this added so i could cook, have a beer fridge, TV ect in the awing without loads of wires trailing through the van. Obviously this is properly housed to protect from the elements.

Uprated Jockey wheel, the old one was shot. Big wheel version with loads of travel for those akward spots.

Refreshed the electrics including towing electrics, no risk of dodgy arking out and damaging your cars electrics.

The van comes with the following.

Tow Hitch Lock

Stabaliser Bar

Gas Bottles (1 empty, one about half full)

Full length NR Awning, with sleeping addon as per photos, good condition. No sleeping pod, we always used the extra section for bikes ect.

Awning Skirt

Leg Winder

Fire Blanket

Smoke Alarm

Fire Extinguisher

Step

40l Water Carrier with handle

Waste Hog and all pipes

Porta Potti only used by the kids at night

Long Electric Hook Up

Caravan does not come with TV, kettle, toaster, wind breaks, personal stuff etc.

Internally I would rate the van as excellent given its age, there are marks on some part of the wood, the worst being near the door (as per photo). We have always kept the van empty of food stuffs when not in use, and I'm pretty evangelical about keeping it clean when we're away. No nasty stains or smells, very fresh. There are some bits broken here and there the odd bit of split wood on furniture (not visible normally), the odd window stay broken, some of the velcro on the curtain holds have gone and a small hole in the rear table, where a previous owner has tried to 'fix' the leg.

Three hob gas burner, grill and oven, all working fine.

All in all nice and clean and in great condition, but not so much that you need to be too precious about it. I have 2 kids I can't have anything too nice. Remember the van is about 20 years old.

Externally, honestly......I personally would not rate as highly as internally. A few battle scars from previous owners (people always want to clarify that dont they.......haha! me too!) Nothing dramatic and nothing that detracts too much from the vans aesthetics, in my ownership i've always kept it covered when not in use, again though 20+ years old so please bear/bare this in mind. Its not a minter externally by any stretch in my opinion.

Basically, you can take this away straight away with no nasty suprises, I know this because I got them all., Please remember It was my intention to keep it for a long time, and as such the new buyer benefits from my slightly OCD compulsion to have something that wont let me down on my holidays and will last years.

I can't think of anthing else, genuine sale so veiwing encouraged and welcomed, have a look, a brew and a chat. Ask any questions, and If i think of anything else, i will have missed loads, i'll get the advert updated.

O.K time for some pics.

OK so the usual rules apply, only those with common sense need bid, you bid to buy not to to try. There loads of high res photos, I'm a trusted seller with great feedback and your welcome to visit and view so you place the winning bid you come and collect within 5 days, cash only, collection only etc etc etc.

Oh yes, advertised elsewhere so reserve the right to pull this. Thanks for looking.

On 08-Aug-12 at 17:34:38 BST, seller added the following information:

Hi, ok so the width of the van comes in under 7ft at approx 6ft 10 inches. Additionally, thanks for all the messages about weight, I have checked under the A Frame cowling and its stamped up as 700kg - 1000kg so really is light, and you shouldnt need a big greedy 4x4 to pull it along, although I have and it never even noticed the van.
