Herein the different sentiments La Mothe Le Vayer, Cudworth, Stanley, Dacier, Charpentier, Voltaire, Rollin, Warburton and others on these subjects are occasionally considered.

Original full leather binding with gilt spine and original leather title label. Cracking to the leather at the rear spine edge and top and bottom of the front spine edge, small chip to the leather on the rear cover. The binding is secure, loosened a bit internally. Lacking the final sheet which is supplied in pencil manuscript- (page 179 which is the last 5 lines of text, with a couple lines of errata on the reverse), lacking the endpapers, signature (James Gordon) with small nick to the title page top edge, some toning and marking in places.
