Regardless of yearly
mileage or use, the GT has been fully serviced as expected covering all oils,
filters,
grease points, plugs, tune-up and general lubrication
Negatives
- Some small splits (heavy
duty tape repaired) to edge of the Webasto roof where it has been folded
back over the years. Still fully watertight with no leaks
- Headlining shows
some obvious age discolouring and some splitting
- The dashboard top is
starting to split (heavy duty tape repaired). Second-hand replacement included in the sale
- The under steering
column rubber ignition key housing is missing
- Both rear interior
panels have speakers (with no covers) fitted
- The drivers seat
cushions are a little soft and squashed and the edge of one leather seat
cover is starting to show some minor wear and discolouration
- Chrome front windscreen
and rear hatch trim removed (my preference as I feel the car looks better without
the trim). Original front windscreen trim included in the sale
- Chrome bumpers have
some slight age pitting but nothing serious and still very presentable.
Rear bumper has had a tow bar fitted at some point in the past and the
small edge holes have been filled with black plastic grommets
- One front bumper
plastic over-rider shows some splitting
- One lower front
corner panel (housing the front indicator) is a fibreglass replacement
- Leather steering
wheel trim is starting to age
- The paintwork shows
the odd small paint chip and nick and a couple of the body panels also
show the odd very minor dent. The under-bonnet bulkhead paint is a little
tarnished and pitted around the brake and clutch fluid reservoirs (as
always). Non of these body faults
are obvious, and represent nothing more than general wear and tear and in
no way detract from the overall quality of this GT
Finally.....
The
GT as been in my care since October 2008 and regretfully now being sold due to
an imminent long term work related European relocation and loss of UK garaging (gutted!).

The
car is in excellent condition for age but is not concours and is not being sold
as such. There will be minor faults and defects I have missed in describing the
car (not on purpose) as I am an enthusiast and not an expert.
To state the obvious, please remember that this is still a near 40 year old true sports car. No ABS. No electronic management systems. No soundproofing. No mod cons. If you want a car that behaves like a Ford Focus, buy a Ford Focus. This is an enthusiast’s vehicle and will need to be looked after as one. The
GT has only covered 57k miles in those 40 years so please do not expect to put
000’s of miles on the car without issue. That said, if properly maintained and
cared for there is no reason for the GT to give any problems but ultimately
this is a private sale, with the GT sold as seen and with no warranty given or
implied.
